I kinda saw what happens at the end but I was playing Animal Crossing by then.
It was a good ending if you were willing to sit through the climax chase sequence.

  2. I just watched Robocop for the first time in years, I can't remember how long it's been. It was really astounding how tightly made it was, it flew by so fast I felt like only fifteen minutes had passed.

Robocop 3 was on television the other night while I was at work and the contrast of going from that to the original was shocking. I had forgotten how they refused to pull any punches, none of that no-blood PG-13 bullshit. Even Lewis getting clipped was all BAM BLOOD and henchmen got riddled with holes with no pullaways or doubling over or anything like that. Even beyond the sequels it really demonstrates just how absolutely pussy-whipped Hollywood is these days regarding the ratings of movies; I can't think of anything in recent years where they would murder police officers, innocents, and main characters in such ways with context even close to what Robocop had going on. It was like the last time I watched the Goonies and it surprised me as to just how much swearing there was compared to kids' PG movies these days.

But I digress. Fantastic movie, awesome special effects, and I always enjoy a good humorous social comnmentary.

  3. I saw Limeny Snickets for the first time on TV the other night, and it totally kicked my ass. What a rad movie! Its so fucking lush visually.

Also saw Be Cool, which was really try hard. Andre of Outcast fame was pretty rad in ti though.

That Don Bluith movie. Anatasia(sp) god the animation is fucking incredible and it also has the one "princess" character that I have ever liked.

LOTR Return of the King: Nuf said.

The book takes place over several decades if I remember right, past World War II.

I didnt watch the movie but it seems like they really raped the book. The book was polished and Americanized but still presented well-drawn characters, laid out an authentic setting and culture, and placed it all in a sweeping, even epic storyline. Aside from the ending which was completely out of tone with the rest of the book and felt like something the publisher ordered, I thought it was brilliant. I'm not surprised the movie was such crapola, though.

  6. I have never read Memoirs, and I didn't find the movie to be that bad. I was somewhat entertained for the duration of the movie (but then again, I had very low expectation). My wife loves the book and thought the movie was okay.

In fact, I did not find Ziyi annoying like almost every single other movie she is in, which is no small feat hehe.
