You know what really blows? The final boss. Not the boss itself, but the fact that there's so much being loaded on the PS2 at every damn second that it froze twice on the last kill to finish the game. Twice! That means replaying Ares, saving your family and Ares again...TWICE!

GT4 has no online play, it is better than absolutely nothing.

  4. I'm just sorely pissed off how the whole game was incredible and SCEA managed to make me remember nothing but hate when I'll look back at this game. All the fun I had before the spinning pillars of blades are getting clouded by all the numb platforming left after. A rotten aftertaste to an excellent game.

  5. what platforming was bad enough to get on everyone's nerves? hades? I pretty much just plowed right on through that part....didnt' imagine it'd cause any kind of fuss. but anyway, I love this game, probably one of the best action games I've played

Ok, so I'm in the Underworld, or Styx River, and everything was going great until I got smacked in the face with the spinning towers with blades.. Honestly, wtf is this all about?
I got knocked down a lot until I realized that the spikes on side of the tower don't hurt you. once you get that out of the way you can just sit still and jump past the blades one at a time. not sure if that's the same problem that gave you trouble earlier but it helped me get through it

Except in God of War, the only combo you need is SQUARE, SQUARE, TRIANGLE (which you have at the start of the game). The only depth in God of War's combat involves timed dodging to make use of the invincibility, but the actual fighting and all the upgrades hardly matter outside of making your attacks more powerful
in DMC3 the only combo you need is triangle, triangle, triangle. whenever you're surrounded by enemies or fighting a boss like vergil, the easiest way to win is to just dodge and mash the triangle button. and viewtiful joe? once you could use the Red Hot One Hundred, nothing else mattered.

the combat in these games is as creative as you make it. you're not forced to upgrade your weapons or take full advantage of the combos, but sticking to one move/combo out of dozens of possibilities and then bitching about the lack of depth is just stupid. that goes for any of those games

You're like a good Shakespeare play. Never ending comedy and tragedy.

  7. Is this game 20 dollars yet?
"Chuy, you're going to have a magical life. Because no matter where you go, it's always going to be better than Tucson."

  8. I still don't understand the hate for the end of the game. Were the blades annoying? Yeah, but after a few tries you learn the path up. You learn when you need to climb and when to jump. Every 16 bit game was like that! I'd say it took me 10 minutes to get by it. And the platforming in Hades? That wasn't hard at all either. The game practically locks on to the platforms for you. If anything I did that part faster than any other. And I loved the end part with the hugging. It was a turning point in the story (and the info you learn about Kratos around there is awesome. Like why he's pale white. Those gods are some mean SOBs.)

Don't believe the hate! Everyone should play this game.

See? Xero gets it. It's as creative and varied as you make it.

There are problems though when through game design a certain few combos are simply more effective than others. Presenting the gamer with varied environments and challenges that encourage the use of a wide array of skills/combos is a way to make the combat appear more varied, even though you're not adding any skills.

I haven't played this game yet, ( ) so I can't tell you if that applies here. From what I've heard though, every move is pretty kickass.

There are no rules, only consequences.

  10. Well, yeah, that's the point of the combo system. If only one or two moves were kickass, it'd make the game completely unbalanced as soon as you got those two moves and unplayably hard before then.
    Time for a change
