Sometimes when im sleeping i get that feeling of falling and then my whole body jerks up and then im wide awake, i hate that.
I had an amazingly vivid dream a few weeks ago right after my girlfriend broke up with me. In the dream I was on some sort of class trip (even though I'm in college. Yeah, I dunno) and we were all in a sauna of sorts for some reason. There was an insane amount of steam everywhere and everything was very hot and hazy. Suddenly this super hot chick that I've never seen before saunters towards me, looks me in the eyes, and leans in whispers "You don't even know my name, do you?" as if "No, I don't was exactly what she wanted to hear. And then gives me the most amazing kiss I've (never) experienced. Then I wake up.
I thought you were gay.... i guess not.

Speaking of oddities in dreaming...I am totally incapable of having sex in a dream. I don't know why. If there arises a situation where I might be getting it on, the dream itself will play out somehow so that it won't happen, or I will wake up. When I was younger I thought it was because I'd never had sex and my brain didn't know how to process the info. But that is no longer the case and I still can't get laid in my dreams![]()
What is this "lucid dreaming" that you people speak of?
I thought you were gay.... i guess not.
I had this dream the other night that I was at this big party with all these people that I know but arn't actually friends with. But the party was at my grandparents house. We were all upstairs but everything was decorated like their basement. Anyways we are all drinking and talking and someone pulls out a computer and starts playing music. I immediatly think of a song I want to play (The Vandals cover of Dont Stop me Now by Queen) I look up the song and play it, but out comes some weird death metal stuff. And everyone starts talking about the song, trying to figure it out philisophicaly for some reason. I keep telling them its not the song I wanted to play. Then the song ends, and I play some random song and it comes out as the song I wanted. And then everyone gets all mad at me and starts yelling. Everyone starts to leave and gets on this big city bus parked outside. I get on the bus with them and try to convince them to come back inside. They all yell at me to drive them home, I start driving. And then I wake up.
Barf! Barf! Barf!
Lucid dreaming is when you become aware that you are dreaming, and as such can do what ever you want untill you wake up. Some people can naturally do it, others have to try really hard to, but pretty much anyone who's willing to put the effort in can do it. Alot of people have put alot of time in recearch, as well as developing techniques to become and lucid and maintain it.Originally Posted by Tragic
I've had them every now and then my entire life, but through some techinques and practice I got the regularity and length of them way up.
I think everyone should atleast try it out.
this is probably the best website for begginers:

try and ignore the totally gay design. Like I said earlier, for some reason this gets lumped in as hippy shit.
Woah. Interesting. I don't beleive that I've ever had such a dream. At least not one that I can remember. I'll check out the site for sure.

Oh yeah...Lucid Dreaming...
I never knew they had a name for that. I always just figured it was a stroke of luck that i noticed i was dreaming from time to time, and took advantage of that. sadly, i'd normally try to tell someone in my dream that it was a dream, and then i'd wake up to prove it to them.
i once dreamed that i realized i was dreaming. This is different from regular LD, in that instead of conjuring up supermodels you summon up a chicken.
The only times I realized I was dreaming was a few times as a kid. I think all of them were nightmares. Worse yet, when I tried to make things go better things always got worse. Like if I tried to turn the monsters into hot bikini girls, I just got monsters in bikinis T_T
Now I never realize it. I'm way too gullible in my dreams. Everything seems ok when I dream. Huge flying whales? Yeah, that seems normal at the time.

well, LD'ing is technically just like any other dream, so I guess only in the REM stage. People say that you can practice real things in lucid dreams and get results, but I've had no luck. I guarantee you though if you pick up a guitar you'll play something cool and different (try and remember it when you wake up!). Besides, there are far more fun things you can do. One thing you can do to lengthen your dreams is inducing false awakenings.
If you feel yourself starting to wake up (ie not due to an external influence), Often creating a vivid physical sensation, such as spinning around on the spot as fast as you can or rubbing your hands together like crazy will make you awaken inside another dream (ie, induce a false awakening). It has something to do with a conflict between your senses in the dream and in real life, and because the dream senses are more dominant, your brain decides to keep you unconcious for whatever reason. The problem with false awakenings is that often people are fooled into thinking they've really woken up, so they lose all lucidity. This is why its good to have reality tests available close to your bed, such as a digital alarm clock (for some reason, they almost always display fucked up jargon).
With LD'ing, in most cases you aren't a "god" off the bat, infact most people can't do much outside of real world activities to begin with. You have to concentrate and put an effort in to get things to work. I still haven't got the hang of flying because my dream environment is always too small (hard to explain). I can do these awesome leaps though.
