The only cameo that was removed was ALtered Beast. The rest just had the music changed.

On normal they're about even, I think. the original's hard was probably harder. Gunstar Heroes was one of Treasure's easier games. Doesn't ever approach the challenge of the US Astroboy or Alien Soldier.

I always thought I was alone in getting creamed @ Alien Soldier. Fun game, but I don't even think I got passed the third level. Probably the only game where the controls bothered me, and I've never been one to complain about controls. Too bad it's super hard to find now.

Alien Soldier is a game that will cream all over beginners. I couldn't even beat the first boss after several tries when I started. Having one credited the game, the first boss takes me a second to kill now. The controls have somewhat to do with it, they DO work well though, it just takes time. People complain about the weapon switching but it is part of the game. You are always thinking about which weapon you need to power up or save for the next boss. No time for pussies. Each time you play you get just a bit further on one boss, or get to the next one. It is really great.

It is going to be in one of the JP PS2 Sega Packs, along with Gunstar and Headdy.

  4. I just wish the weapon switching in AS was done with one button (like in GSH). That was my main beef with AS's controls.

  5. Didn't this game come out this week? I'm still busy with Castlevania so I haven't gone to pick it up yet, but how has this thread fallen onto the second page? For shame, TNL, for shame! And I thought you were hardcore.

This forum took a deep nose dive long ago.

Its still not as bad as other forums though.

  7. I am at the Dice Maze now. One complaint I have is that you can't easily restart (unless I am missing something?). I don't like the top-down helicopter level either. The game was really hard for me at first, then I started to actually use the special weapons and it makes the game so much easier.

I got the last copy at Gamestop, they only got 3 in. Two were reserved. The same thing happened when I went to get Advanced Guardian Heroes.

I personally feel how they handled this game is brilliant, in terms of a sequel. It isn't the exact same game, but it isn't so far detached like Advanced Guardian Heroes. People will (and have) complain on either side though.

Yeah the restart thing bugs me. I mean, it's only like five buttons you have to press to get back to the stage, but still, no restart? And for a game that's built around scores and times??

  9. Melon Bread is actually a real bastard now.

Kinda threw me for a loop when I jumped at him, guns blazing, and died

  10. I fucking HATE the helicopter stage. It was kinda crappy on Normal, but it's a nightmare on Hard. Worst thing ever associated to the Treasure name. EVER. It's ugly. Huge hit box on a gigantic garish ship. The bomb is way too weak. There's too many bullets and you get bounced and juggled by them. Who designed this level, fucking Color Dreams?
