Thread: Gunstar Super Heroes

Oh wow, there's some kind of super shot if you double tap R. I was wondering what that meter was for.

Also: any tips for beating the overhead helicopter stage on Hard? (no be prayings, pls)

If you aren't playing for score and just for survival, graze the extreme right-hand side of the screen and avoid all enemies until you reach the boss. Take out the three submarines, then deliver all the firepower you can at the boss. most of the enemy tank shots should hit the boss' cannons if you're close enough to it, and shouldn't be a threat.

Remember to hold B for rapid fire vulcans while simultaneously rolling your thumb to tap A rapidly to fire missles at a faster rate.

If you make it to the next area with only ~20-40HP there's a ton of heath up there, so don't worry.

Yeah, I figured the right path was best, but the helicopter and the little red tower there fuck me up enough that I don't make it past the boss.

I'll try again, didn't really put the time into it yet. Thanks ^____^

Yeah the charge shot is ace. There are some parts where it is impossible to survive without it, it's implemented very well in the game. If you haven't already, try the homing lazer's charge shot, I think you'll really enjoy what it does.

You mean on Hard, right? Because I already went through the game without it.

I tried that helicopter stage about 5 times before lunch getting to the boss with 100 health, no hits, and I get owned by the swarm of bullets. I think the ships are the only things hitting me, maybe I should spin around and take out the one I miss (I usually take the middle one then the left or the right one before I smack up against the boss). If you don't move fast enough and get caught in the big flow of bullets you just die, it's horrible =(

Not really diff related, I was just saying in case ya haven't seen it yet... the homing lazer's charge beam is a green snaking lazer that chases the enemies all over the screen in really intense situations. Works really good in bits where enemies are swarming and you need to free up some "comfort" space or when fighting some of the bosses.

edit: As an example of a good spot to strategically use the charged homing lazer.... ...it works really well when you first start fighting Black's spider mech. Release the "snake lazer" and it will home in and pounds Black till his head is forced to switch position from the top of the screen quicker. After that though, you would want to use charge or normal shot from either your machine gun or flame thrower when getting in close to hit him.

As for the helicopter stage, I have yet to play it on hard (just started a new file with Blue), but all I know is on normal diff I had to go crazy Rambo on that last heli boss everytime. I tried to duck and weave strategically several times through on him so I'm afraid I will just have to melee him again on hard. If only Treasure had made the sprites in the stage smaller....

OK, got to Black's Casino during lunch. The super shots are kinda neat, still don't really use them.

Seven Force was an awesome fight, but on the DS having to hold B, sometimes R, and tap A was turning my hand into a horrible claw of pain. I wish I could map the buttons to Y and B =(

I had to use the charged homing shot every time I fought him to at least take off the edge. Black's mech is a pushover in the Genny game too I will add.

I'm glad I personally have no problem (anymore, heh) with the DS's GBA set up. Cuz I refuse to buy a backlit graphite SP as I have a sneaking feeling Nintendo will make the next gen of DS with button mapping and classic GB support, so i am saving my money just in case. grrrrrr

What kills me is that new DS games like Dawn of Sorrow have correct, human button layouts.
