I've heard she was able to eat before the feeding tube was inserted and there was some reasoning that really had nothing to do with her survival why it was put in.

Really sad things usually take ages to be funny, but the absurdity of all the bullshit sped things along.

I don't get why people are so angry at the parents. Have a fucking heart, they don't want to let go of their kid. I think pro-life activists are full of shit though and that the only people who should decide who lives or dies are the people in question (infact I was even taught in school that while you can try and talk someone out of a suicide attempt, its ultimately their choice and that it was immoral to forcefully interfere). A national register of people who want to die in situations like this should be set up to avoid this kind of crap.

The most amazing thing is that people are put on and taken off life support on a daily basis. Everyone has heard of "pulling the plug" and there's really no controversy surrounding DNR.

So why the fuck are people suddenly so emotional over this? Does the public think it's a big deal just because the media and politicians say it's very very important? Why is it even a topic of discussion? Family argues over what to do with coma patient, news at 11!

Well first, she's not even on life support. She's being fed and hydrated, that's all. And there is no reason for the parents to not be allowed to cover the bill if they want her to live that's fine, as long as they pay for it, no one else has a right to say anything.

Well, yeah, actually the husband has the power of attorney and he's following the wishes he says she gave to him. He doesn't care what the family says, because he's not out to please them or the American people. He's fighting like hell to see his wife's wishes carried out and he hasn't bowed down to money, political pressure, etc. So, I think he's legit when he says she wanted it this way.
