IT DOES NOT BRICK THE PSP. You need the tiff file because it does something with the exploit, thus allowing you to dowgrade. Without the overflow.tif, you cant do anything. If you read my instructions above, I stated that you should disable Norton when downloading and doing the downgrade. If you dont, Norton will automatically delete the file. If you also read what I said, you can make your own overflow.tif file by drawing a happy face and saving it as "overflow.tif" and Norton will still recognize it as a trojan. Why? Because its searching for that specific name file (overflow.tif)..not what is inside the file.

There is another version out on the internet that claims is a downgrader also, but all it really does is erase files from the firmware thus resulting in a bricked PSP.

You said that "pspbrick" is a specific name and all I said was that Norton and the PSP scene dubbed things called "pspbrick" is because they can brick your PSP. I didnt say it will brick your PSP.

If it was going to brick your PSP, would I link it here or even give it to you? If it was going to brick any PSPs, would I even dare try it? I even stated that I uploaded my own files and even used it to downgrade with no problems.

  2. OK, I'ma gonna try it now then. Sorry man, I know it must be tough dealing with us sometimes. Just that we like our 'lil widescreen wonders ya know?

I also have to admit I am enjoying messing around with the built in browser. But it aint enough to dissuade me from emu.

  3. OK, I ran the overflow tiff file, system info says it's 1.00 after rebooting. But I can't get the eboot to load in the game-memstick menus at all and I have the 13 MB eboot in the psp/game/update folder. Just shows corrupted data icons. index.dat, h.bin, and index.dat.bak are all in the root menu.

edit: OK, if I ran the update that came with Battlefront am I SOL?

edit: NM I got it to work. I am back to 1.50 now. But I am worried that doing this a lot is bad for my system, bandit do you know of any folks who up/down grade a lot back and forth with no issue?

It shouldnt affect your PSP. The most I have heard someone do it is about 3-4 times.

    Cool, thanks.

  6. Anyone know what the firmware is on the new Gigapack? Thinking of picking it up but if it's > 2.0 I'll pass for now.

No one knows. I have a feeling its 2.0. Even if its 2.0, you can downgrade.

  8. I got sick of upgrading and downgrading all the time so I took back Battlefront (told the dumb walmart lady "it keeps installing 'unwanted additional software' on my PSP so no, I don't want to exchange for the same game"), got my money back and bought Coded Arms which I like a lot so far, sure it's repetitive but it's a lot of fun and the control scheme is workable (graphics are also much better than Battlefront II PSP which has a lot of fog and darkness/blur).

Here's hoping the emulator folks can eventually crack 2.0.

  9. I don't get it. Ok, me and my pops got the Max Hard Drive that we were all talking about earlier in the pages. I will rant on about it in a while. My thing is right now, is with SW: Battlefront 2 and GTA, both which would force a 2.0 upgrade, it pops with an error saying the game cannot be started (FFFFFED3). Now, I got SSX On Tour on there, which also forces the 2.0 upgrade, and it runs like a dream. I don't get why it won't run.

As for the Max Hard Drive, I'm loving it for a few reasons and not caring much for it for others. For the good part, it's got 4 GBs of space, runs just like a memory card, and, for myself personally, makes the PSP bigger so it fits more like a controller (like a Game Gear with a missing middle section, or an odd shap Xbox controller). The battery that comes with it is two times the size of a normal PSP battery AND doesn't run the hard drive. In fact, the hard drive is really just a flash drive, like the new Ipod Nano. The bad part is that it's not portable anymore (which makes it a bitch for hiding from security at school), the hard drive can heat up, but doesn't burn your hand or anything like that, and there's a odd shaped cord that sticks out on the side that goes into the memory card slot. Does everyone rememeber that mod that someone made to make it to where you could use the original memory cards that you had instead of the new Duo ones? That's what it is like.

Personally, I like it, but if want to get it right now, don't do it unless you're just putting movies or music on it. If you want to put all the games on it, wait until we can get our hands on a update version hack or a loader that works with more games.

Oh, and happy birthday to me, bitches. ^.^

  10. There isn't a loader for GTA LCS, that's why.
