Eh, we'll just have to judge on the final product like always.
What you see is what you get and if the developers work hard enough then they can pump out some great artistic and fun stuff.
We're still seeing games like God of War and Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2's hardware, so obviously a good developer who knows how the system works can produce amazing results.Originally Posted by Glass Joe

You know what the biggest graphic jump I want to see is? Draw distance that goes a reasonable way. Right now they've gotten a lot better with getting the scenery to go on, but the fade-in (which isn't fooling anyone, it's pop-in done slow) of scenery bits is something I'd love to see gone forever.

yes Xbox 2 (360) what ever it's being called most likely will be the weakest of the 3, with it launching most likely in November dev time on it's chips and everything is pretty much, with the PS2 and Nintendo Revolution not set to launch till next year some time which could really put them anywhere from 6 months to a full year after the next offering from MS, it's really not that hard to realize they're going to be more powerfull systems
but that's just how it goes when your the first system out you have a tendency to be the weakest
Do graphics determine sales, the PS2, Game Gear, TurboExpress, and Lynx would say NO by a long shot, (for those who cant tell the PS2 was weakest sold best theo thers were better than the GB and sold worse) however I think this is one time it could make a difference, soley because MS has pushed the Xbox this generation by showing it as the most powerful the newest tech the best graphics, and it really has helped it sell this generation, losing that they could potentially lose alot of their fan base
but we shall see as nothing is written in stone
as to the HDTV, I could have sworn at the GDC nintendo affirmed again, and possibly MS also said that their next consoles would be able to connect to VGA monitors right out of the box
I never got the entire thing about graphics. Sure it's nice that the game looks good, but it's more important that the game doesn't suck.
You've got a point, but the ones that plays good and look really fucking good graphically always get my total attention.Originally Posted by Raz0r

That may have been true with the last generation of consoles and those before, but with the upcoming consoles, that won't necessarily be the case. Most games will take over 2 years to develope. Sure the developers are doing most of the leg work on a PC, but they still need to have dev kits, to test out their code.Originally Posted by Shin Johnpv
I'm pretty sure that Sony is near completion of their dev kits and Nintendo as well. Any changes now, could put them way out of the picture.
Ya. My theory is that the system which gets the most of those are going to win next generation. So probably Sony.
The thing I'm worried about is Microsoft up and leaving the market if they get trounced again, which may happen.
