Thread: Inglourious Basterds

  1. Hateful Eight was overlong as usual for a QT movie, but it was otherwise pretty great.

I forgot about him. I meant John Ruth & OB

Saw it again round 3. Still love it. Still get sad about the innocent dying.

Yeller, which one of these you want?

  3. Are those the programs from roadshow? They never passed one out when I went

watched Hateful Eight. Didn't feel too long to me. Didn't even feel like two hours. I enjoyed all of it.

Well, I could have done without the narration. I didn't need to be told those things, and it didn't add anything. Hell, it might have taken away from the movie

The narration worked for the road show where they added an extra 20 minutes of so (most of it is just prelude and intermission). The 10 min intermission comes right before the narration, it makes the narration more appropriate.

  6. I really liked this movie. I felt like Django was a bit laborious, and didn't quite click, but he figured out the Western here. It all works very nicely. I'm not sure if I liked it as much as IG, but it's close.

Can't believe it took The Verge ten whole paragraphs before slighting the movie for having victims who are women and non-white men. That seems to be the thrust of every poor review of this movie, which is part of what

I don't think I'd have liked it as much as I did without the righteous indignation building around me in the college age, college town theater.
Man, what the fuck happened to The Verge? When it came out it was as good as a tech site could possibly be. Now it's just some Tumblr bullshit.

I don't think attacking it for female victims is right. The movie is actually pro feminism in a weird way because it makes the bounty out to be a crazy evil criminal that isn't to be trusted. That she is just as murderous as any man. And they don't make her sexual or like a temptress. She is just evil.

After this movie, I think he just likes to troll overly PC idiots. Shit, how many of his movies now have what amounts to revenge porn for the oppressed? IB has revenge porn against nazis. DU has revenge porn against racists. This one had revenge porn against racists.

  8. I managed to make it all this time not knowing a damn thing about this film (THE, not IG- why doesnt this have it's own thread?) except that Kurt Russel was in it, sporting an epic fucking beard.
So I did not know what to expect.
It threw me at first. The actors werent speaking or acting like movie actors. It felt like a play. I didnt like it. At least, not until they made ot to Minnie's and the movie really began.
Then I got into it. Then it made sense why it seemed like a play. It basically is one. Then I loved it.
I don't know if it's me or QT, but something changed over the years. I adored RD, PF, and JB. I watched those movies so many damn times I had the dialogue memorized. I couldnt wait until my son reached an age I felt I could share these movies with him. I then annoyed him by doing the dialog right along with the movie.
The KB's came out. I liked tjem the first time I watched them. But the couple of times I rewatched them, things started annoying me. I've talked about it before so I wont retread thay ground. But they didnt seem as good as his previous stuff.
I liked IG and DU far more than KB, but they still werent movies I could rewatch a hundred times. I think its because when you have Brad Pitt and Jamie Foxx in your film, it's hard to see them as characters. It's clearly Brad Pitt, not Aldo and Jamie Foxx, not Django.
But this movie. Oh my God. I can see myself watching it again, and again, and again. It may not make sense to anyone but me, but because of the "play" feel, I don't see Kurt Russel, Sam Jackson, and Jennifer Jason Leigh being themselves. I actually see them playing their characters. It doesn't take me out of the film, because they're clearly actors reciting lines.

  9. TH8 is amazing and it is definitely better in subsequent viewings. I have watched it 3 times since the 70mm showings and like it more every time. I actually like DU the least out of the last 3 films. The first scene of IG is kinda like a prelude to this one.

I really like the coldness of it. It's almost like watching one if those 360 movies at epcot.
