Thread: Upcoming graphic adventures

  1. I've been recently inspired to go back and replay alot of my favorite adventures, and play a few that I missed (finally got through Full Throttle). I have concluded that Under a Killing Moon, Sam and Max, and Space Quest 5 are the pinnacle of the genre. It really is a pity that SQ5 never had a "talkie" version like 4 and 6, as it's the best written and funniest in the series.

I'd love to see Mark Crowe return to the genre. I know Scott Murphy has tried to a couple times, as has the co-creator of SQ6 (I forget his name. Justin something), but Mark was definately the talent in that duo. He has a new company buy all they did was that Destroy All Monsters game.

Is that the Godzilla game or some other Destroy All Monsters?

As for people who have left the genre, I really wish Jordan Mechner would try making another one. The Last Express was one of the most original and brilliant games in the genre. It's too bad it was released at a bad time for adventure games.

Right now I'm finally playing an old game called Dreamweb and it's very cool. It will probably be one of my favorite adventure games.

  3. Eerievale is in development for the Jaguar:
    LOL! Worst game ever.

I think I still have my copy of this. It has the most memorable ending ever. I haven't played it since it came out and I can still picture it. Though simple compared to modern games, the visuals still sort of impress me now.

  5. Dreamweb was elite. I need to replay this game soon. I played it on amiga500, cd32 and pc. Is it out for any other platforms?

I think those were the only formats. I just beat the game(although I looked at a walkthrough a couple times when it was bugging me). It's an awesome game although the story confuses me a bit.

    Thank you.
I hate you, I just found out Grim Fandango was never released on Macintosh... My only hope to replay it now is that they finish that 3d scummvm subproject thats supposed to run the Lucasarts 3d games. The name illudes me.

The atmosphere can't be beaten though. A real nice pessimistic take on the future. I loved how depressed his girlfriend always seemed. Only negative I remember, were some annoying pixel hunting moments, that I could have lived without.

I think I will dig up the old cd-32 and replay it soon.
    Thanks.

Am I the only one that worry about Longest Journeys transition into 3d? When you look at games like Broken Sword, I still don't feel the new 3d version matched the old ones. But I am not stupid, I know commercial 2d point and click adventure gaming is gone and buried.
