Quit being a trolling idiot. For one, the economy is not as strong as it was when Spider-man one or two came out, I don't care about statistics, the cost of gas is going to affect the movie going lay-person and their family more than other bullshit factors.
Two, DVD is becoming the preferred movie watching experience for most people, what with theaters being overpriced and filled with asshole patrons.
And three the movie made 106 million dollars in one week. Considering it made back half of it's budget in one week (and that's the half that actually went into production, not the half blown on Tim Burton and spiders, the most dangerous killers in the insect kingdom.) and it hasn't even released worldwide yet, the movie is hardly a failure and there will definitely be a sequel. So shut up and go shill Spider-man 3 in that thread you dickweed.

P.S. Superman > all other superheros ever.
P.P.S. This movie was awesome, and I will be going to see it in IMAX 3D the day after I get back to the US.

Last I checked it was up to around 126 mil which is still under what spider man 2 opened at. I think it's pretty obvious that no the world doesn't need a super man.

It's not really a matter of people not wanting or needing Superman. It's a matter of the studio being fucking idiots and spending too much money on a movie in hopes that it will somehow draw crowds. Spending 250 million (WTF?) on a movie is ridiculous and hardly the drawing point for crowd studios seem to think it is. It didn't work well for King Kong and it's not working for Superman, although King Kong was a fucking awesome movie (still haven't seen this).

If there is a sequel, and I personally hope there is, Singer's probably going to have a lot of pressure on him to do it within a tighter budget.
