Fine replace land of the dead with any alien rip off of your chosing, my point still stands.
Yes, because the only reason someone doesn't like the movies you do is because they're dramatically different and hang out in crowd you perceive as being inferior. That's ridiculous man.Originally Posted by Jetman

Say what you will about Ebert but in his reviews he explains what he was thinking and suggests movies are worth less or more. He's also a comparative reviewer, which means if a car movie came out and scored a 2, and this movie came out a week later and was a bit better but not all that nifty it could score a 2.5 or 3. It doesn't mean it's the cats meow of a movie, it means it's a quality representation of what else is on the market in that category. Which is why star scores don't mean that much in an Ebert review and why he doesn't give a shit about people who complain about it.
Spike Lee cut him up about about him being lax with the review scores and Ebert practically publically humiliated him with his response.

Yep, I mostly agree with all this except that I don't think the bad stuff you pointed out was as bad as you felt it was. But you made all the exact points I made, you're just harder on the movie than I was. Despite its shortcomings I thought it was pretty enjoyable.Originally Posted by Shin Johnpv
Oh, I forgot to mention in my first post that I really loved the part when Superman is flying Lois around romantically and he says something like, "I'm sorry I left you Lois." Then follows that up with "I'll take you back now." I thought that was nifty since he was saying he'd take her back home now, but did a bit of a double entendre. Yeah, I'm a sap.
SO how much did gas prices jump between X3 and SROriginally Posted by Jester
I think 100mil. included all the previous attempts to rejuvenate the franchise.Originally Posted by Andrew

SSX, Episode 3 did well because it was Star Wars and it didn't totally suck. King Kong did well because of positive word of mouth after having a meek 9 million opening weekend.
Superman is at 112 million and climbing and still not out worldwide. Yep that's a commercial failure right there. You want to keep trolling and playing Marvel movies versus DC movies go ahead, even if every Marvel movie made more money than Superman Returns it still doesn't make Superman Returns the financial calamity you all are claiming. So everyone please take your stupid need to measure Summer Hollywood box office penis sizes to another thread, or better yet another forum.

X3 broke a damn record. SR has ben a borderline bomb depending on how you see it.
I have just watched this film. Conclusion: Doodoo.
I will say I was impressed by how well it kept the spirit and feel of the older films though.
To boldly go where lots of men have gone before...
Yes if you see it realistically and have any concept of numbers you realize that it nowhere near a bomb, but if you see it through the illogical eyes of fanboy hatred then you're right it's a borderline bomb.Originally Posted by avatar

Also, LOL @ the thought of a 9 million dollar open for King Kong. Even if it did open that soft I still wouldn't care because, and get this (write it down), it's just a movie I have no affiliation with other than buying a ticket and enjoying and I am not a consumer whore.

But even then, Spiderman had the advantage of never having been released on the big screen before, which peaked a lot of people's curiosity as to how it would turn out.
