I myself hate football, and I couldn't agree more that it is a boring, pointless, repetitive game, and that David Beckham is a moron.
I am not arguing at all that people who like football aren't idiots, but that the majority of a population really takes no real interest in the sport, and so are not idiots.

But not everyone in Britain (typical sample of Europe) actually likes football, and very few people who like football are actually hooligans.
E.g, say 3 acts of hooliganism take place at a match in a week (I assume they all took place in Britain), as was stated earlier in this thread. That's 3 in 60,000,000 people being hooligans, maybe a few more involved if there's a riot of some kind. That's really not at lot.

As for those of you who complain about why Europeans think so badly of Americans, there's several reasons: (These are strongly opinionated, and I only agree with points (1) and (4), but this is how people generally see America)
1) Your president. That really doesn't represent your country well.
2) The invasions of Iraq, etc and the view that America has no right to police the world like they do
3) The obesity rate in America is huge. This point really got driven in by "Supersize me", which leads people to conclude that all American's are fat, lazy slobs
4) Some stupid laws which America has. For example, apparently in several states the Big Bang theory is not allowed to be taught in school, as it clashes with religion. Also laws on jaywalking, etc are stupid. Nobody cares in Europe (except Switzerland, but everythings really uptight there).

Like I say, those points are very opinionated, but its what people hear and think, and this does not reflect well upon America's image.

I do not dislike America at all, and to be honest I think Britain is a complete wasteland of a country right now, but all of you stop stereotyping the British as football loving hooligans.
