    Not really.

Even if it does, it will never be as good as the fan created ones. (Far less codec support, for one. And forget any support for ripped DVDs.)

Have a bit more proof than "Sony has said?" I'm asking because every time Sony has talked about it up to this point, they've always said it will be there. Nothing has been shown, from what I've seen, that says otherwise.

Backward compatibility isn't there to make up for a weak game library. I don't play PSX games on my PS2 because PS2 games suck, I do it because there are a lot of PSX games that are still fun. And, as 1 system > 2 systems, things work out nicely.

I still play plenty of old PS1/SS/N64/DOS PC 3d games. The graphics have aged but a lot of games still have great gameplay. I would say the lack of analog in some early 32-bit games is more annoying than the graphics.

This is the only reason why I want backwards-compatibility with the 360. After I buy the 360, I'm going to mod my Xbox (it's not modded because I'm using my Xbox for LIVE), but there are some Xbox games that I still want to play over LIVE (specifically Street Fighter Anniversary Collection).

If the 360 doesn't have backwards compatibility, it won't dissuade me from buying it. I just won't be buying it at launch.

I'm sorry, I don't. But it was in an interview that they did with someone from Sony. Supposedly they may not be able to get BC in, they're not ruling it out, but that they just don't know. And if anything it would only be PS2 BC and wouldn't include PS1 games. My web access is very limited at work, so I'm sorry that I can't look up any links for you.

That actually has an impact on me.

And I voted no. Not sure why, just don't really see it happening.

  7. Really really hope it will, but not expecting it.

Same here. Panzer Dragoon Orta is one game I would probably play in the future.

  9. not sure if it was linked in here or not but it looks like gamesindustry.biz had a article about two versions of the new xbox coming out, basic and premium (premium has the HD + backward compatibility + WebTV shit while basic just plays new games)

the xbox will cost about 100 by then. So you're paying for essentially 2 systems with a bonus of WebTV(and hard drive functionality in the new system) Joy. I guess you're also saving space.

You all know it's a goddamn smart move from a business perspective. I hate it.

Uh, I assumed the premium was 100 dollars more.
