Darkhorizons reports on upcoming live action version of the Transformers:

" The "Transformers" Are Rumbling On

Most film producers stay pretty aloof, one however not afraid to comment and let his feelings be known is Don Murphy. The man behind a slew of recent Alan Moore comic adaptations, he is now one of the guys responsible for the upcoming "Transformers" movie. Today, Dreamworks Fansite has assembled the man's collective thoughts on the film from dozens of posts that he has put together over recent weeks.

In the first draft of the script there were four main Transformers on each side but the plans are to expand that to five on each side in the next script revision. The characters of Optimus Prime, Jazz, Ratchet, Bumblebee and Arcee for the Autobots and Megatron, Soundwave and Starscream for the Decepticons. The remaining 2 Decepticons are yet to be determined.

The story is set in Southwest, USA and will be about Autobots who have been on Earth for a long time, (possibly as far back as biblical times) and are engaged in hidden war with other Transformers. It will told from human perspective. There are currently no plans for a second or third film but if the first film does well, two more are likely to follow.

The script is expected to be done by July 1st, preproduction begins September 1st and filming begins December 1st. A PG or PG-13 rating is expected, as is a November 17th, 2006 release date.

  2. Soundwave better still transform into a kickin little beat-box(er...tape cassette recorder ), talk in that weird techno voicebox tone, and breakdance at least once in this....

  3. I miss Coleman Francis as Jazz.
    That was the best.
    OMG <3 4EVA
Scourge:Azumanga Daioh is exactly the same thing as Ninja Scroll.
    buttcheeks: High school so weird

  4. who the hell is Arcee?

They need some Grimlock and Unicron up in this piece

I want them to use the 2005 Mustang GT Grimlock in this movie. That would be awesome.

Speaking of which, does anyone know why this toy suddenly ceased to exist? The US Alternators version now fetches prices of $40 and up, when I can get the Binaltech one for less... I don't get it. I don't want to pay more than $20.

I think she's the female pink hovercraft autobot. But,yeah Grimlock,Buster, the Jetfire, I'm sure we could all think of more than a few that should be in instead of her.

  7. Does this script worth with the cartoon that played in the 80's? Might be worth a rental if it ain't.

  8. When I first read about the live-action Transformers movie, I immediately thought of one thing.

    DISASTER!!!

I highly recommend the Transformers movie.

If they got Optimus Prime's original voice I'd be there day one, no matter how shitty it is. Shame that this is probably going to suck balls, I would love to see an excellent live-action movie of this. How about just a remake of the original movie? It's not like they're going to top Unicron and Galvatron anyway.

  10. They'd better get Frank Welker and Peter Cullen to supply voices. Megatron and Prime need to have their original voices back, along with everyone else.

Welker can imitate almost anything, so filling in for Chris Latta's Starscream should be fairly easy.

Heck, he might even sound better and less whiney.

edit- just read the link in the first post, and they say Peter and Frank are their first choices afterall. Here's hoping they go for it and don't have prior obligations doing some shitty Disney Channel show or something.
