HOLLA ATCHO BOY SON!!
So, when he says "there is no best" and then turns around and says "the best shooter is on PC", I'm the one being illogical? Whatever.Originally Posted by Cowutopia

HOLLA ATCHO BOY SON!!
Pretty much. Though the way you're phrasing it sounds stupid, when you look at his examples they are sound.Originally Posted by g0zen

Not especially, definately!Originally Posted by Cowutopia

No, I'm phrasing it logically. If he's going to put FPSs in interval notation (meaning rank order) then there's going to be something at the top of the list. If he's grouping all PC FPSs together and saying they're better as a collective than Console FPSs (which is what he was saying in the beginning, yet could not support this with facts other than his personal preference), that'd be one thing. But he starts out saying "there is no best". Which, following his warped logic, means that all PC FPSs are equal.Originally Posted by Cowutopia
Now, you tell me, is DOOM equal to Half-Life 2? Even then, is it equal to HALO 2? I rest my case. Not only is it possible to find a best PC FPS (and Jousts dodge that I was 'forcing' him to pick is obvious BS), but it's easily comparable to the best Console FPS..

PC is for word processing and the like as well as internet browsing, and consoles are for video games. It's a simple enough arrangement really, worked for years.
That and I can't think of a recent video game that my computer could run near decent.
<sigh> I don't want to argue with you. It's a useless argument because in the end you're comparing apples to oranges to bananas to pineapples and in any case every comparison of this nature rests on a personal value judgement.
You'd have to do it like this: If you were comparing cars, for example. Joust has it like this: I don't believe there is a best car, but if I was forced to pick I would pick one of these three that I believe are equally superior to all the other cars. However this is a useless comparison. First you'd need to pick a variable to judge.
Which car gets the best highway gas mileage? That's an objectively measurable question. You can take all the cars and measure what their gas mileage is, and reach a conclusion. If several cars were tied at the end then there is no single best car, but then if you had to pick one car out of all the cars you would pick one of those cars. If you were forced to put them in interval notation you would have to resort to non-objective qualifications, such as the color and shape.
Now with games there are objectively measureable features, but in these arguments 90+% of what is being argued over is subjective. Which is why when Mzo laughs and tells you all to shut the fuck up he is the winner. It's also why I get headaches.

So then how is his broad generalization somehow more logical? Like, I said though, whatever. You're just spinning your wheels because it's obvious Joust was arguing strictly from his own prejudice and not from any logical conclusion.Originally Posted by Cowutopia
