If you are trying to compare Unreal 2004's user made maps and mods to Halo 2's maps, you have a long way to go. 95% of both the mods that have came out for Unreal 2004, and the user made maps that have come out (which like Diff said download automatically when you join a server) suck complete ass. They are completely unbalanced and seemingly untested, because like I said 95% of them such complete ass.Originally Posted by Changeling
Trying to compare Unreal 2004's multiplayer mode to Halo 2's is like night and day. Within a year of Unreal 2004's release, the best online FPS was dwarfed by a game that is on a console. Regardless of the methods of control, Halo 2 makes Unreal 2004's online interface look like a piece of shit. Connecting to games, lobbys, friends lists, messages, actually comminucating during the game were such an after though in Unreal 2004 that the interface shows its age after just a year. But it just doesn't end with the interface, the maps also really have something to be desired. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED Unreal 2004 when it came out, I played it everyday, multiple hours a day, and the only reason I can figure out why I was able to do that was because I was consistantly playing on different maps. Once I started to play the same maps over and over again, boredom over took me and I stopped playing. Why do you ask did I stop playing? Because once I started to replay the maps, I realized that they all had one fatal flaw, that there really weren't more than 5 standout maps out of the 50+ maps that were balanced and FUN to play. Yah, you can play them and have fun (because obviously Unreal 2004 is a fun game to play), but the maps just weren't fun to play.
Say what you will, different control methods aside, your defending PC FPS's like they are the only thing that matters in the FPS genre is foolish and bullheaded because that just isn't the case anymore.
You just said exactly what Halo 2 is, and exactly what most PC FPS's arn't due to the lack of people using the microphone.Originally Posted by Changeling
