Thread: 13 yr old girl wants an abortion

Here's just a random thought: The American school districts that preach abstinence in the public schools need to get with the times and teach kids about birth control.

I think abstinence should be stressed, because it is the only thing that is 100% effective at preventing STDs and unwanted pregnancies. Discuss birth control, too, but be accurate about the effectiveness rates and what not.

The strongest abstinence-only supporters also, almost uniformly, oppose abortion. And of course, they oppose single-parent households as well (which a teenage mother would almost certainly be).

Like I said earlier, though... not much of an actual movement to get more "moral majority" people to adopt.

Kids need to be taught about birth control. If they're going to fuck up (and let's face it, people fuck up), they should at least fuck up in a way that doesn't result in a pregnancy out of ignorance of how to use a condom.

Yes, it is, but education should be about education, not moral conditioning. Teaching that abstinence is the only 100% safe method is fine, because that's the truth. But it should not by any means replace teaching about the methods of birth control that are out there.

  4. If I ever end up with some kids, I'm neutering them. End of discussion.

Absoutely abstinence should be stressed, but teaching kids about the methods of birth control and their effectiveness before they reach sexual maturity should be mandatory in the public school system.

I belive if you look at the statistics abortion rates + unwanted pregnancies are higher in areas that do not teach about birth control.

But absolutely abstinence should be stressed. That's how we were taught, but I also knew what a diaphragm was and how to put a condom on. Not to mention rolling a condom onto a big plastic dick in front of all your friends makes for some giggles in middle school.

  6. I take the opinion that abortion should be illegal once the baby reaches the point that it can survive on its own outside of the womb. Premature ward in the hospital or whatever. If it can survive its a person. The mother would have had plenty of time prior to that to say oh shit i dont need a mouth to feed.

I also think you fuckers need to get with the times and start allowing Morning After Pills without a prescription.

Correlation doesnt imply causation, and Im not sure there is a cause-effect relationship there. I grew up in a little, semi-rural town in Morris County, NJ (one of the 10 richest counties in the US). New Jersey has one of the top 2 or 3 education systems in the US.

Now. That said, they didnt teach us birth control methods, I didnt know how to put on a condom the night I lost my virginity, and my parents never gave me the bird or bees speech or anything (the girl helped, heh =X). Im sure many other people were in the same boat as me, including my friends at school.

BUT. There wasnt a high rate of pregnant girls or anything in my school.

So what am I saying here? A better correlation might be income and what not, not necessarilly what is taught in school.

  8. Say! If the girl aborts the baby herself, will she be tried as an adult?

Damn, dude, you're younger than me and they didn't teach you anything in school? I had a sex education section of health class. We put a condom on a banana. This is a town with no hispanic people, very few asians and maybe five black families. Well, back then it was.

If that's the situation now, we REALLY need to pick up the pace here. Damn.

  10. Even small catholic schools have sex ed classes. It seems wierd not to ever have had one.
