Thread: The resurgance of the beat-em-up genre?

  1. I have the GBA games, and if I didn't buy another GBA game ever, I'd still feel it was worth it just for those two games. I really hope an updated version of either game comes out. Esp. since RCR lacks a multiplayer mode.

Rare own Battletoads... and considering their latest handful of games... um.... no.
Quick zephyrs blow, vexing daft Jim.

  3. double dragon was already revived on the gba, and it was done with pure class. they added new moves, a blocking/counter system, dashing/running attacks, and new weapons as well.

what we really fucking need is a full 3d roam anywhere RCR

  4. DD was also a mashing of parts 1-2 and it was done with class. Still I think the arcade shots of the original look better.

  5. MWF, the Digipen website has a game like that.

  6. I love beat em ups. My friends and I play sit down and play these together the most. I've not played Spikeout yet. Zombie Revenge kicked ass - too bad it was unforgivably hard and the controls were terrible.

    Dynamite Cop absolutely rules.
You don't have to be smart; you don't have to know the facts, you just have to be confident.

Don't you think control is a very important part of games (especially beat-em-ups), though?

My only complaint with ZR was that there was 3 characters, yet it was still only 2 player. The best were the games like Turtles, Simpsons, and X-Men where it was 4 player (or 6 in X-Men's case).

  9. Spikeout lets you have four players (including on Live).

Right, I know that, but I was just talking about ZR. I've actually had some trouble finding Spikeout in stores, but I have too many games as it is, so it's not a total bad thing. Can you do multiple people on an xbox and then go online?
