They were great before it split into EGM and EGM2.

I was also 12 at the time so who knows.

  2. Life isn't just about passing on your genes.
We can leave behind much more than just DNA.
Through speech, music, literature and movies...
what we've seen, heard, felt ...anger, joy and sorrow...
these are the things I will pass on.

That's what I live for. We need to pass the torch, and let our children read our messy and sad history by its light. We have all the magic of the digital age to do that with.

The human race will probably come to an end some time, and new species may rule over this planet.
Earth may not be forever, but we still have the responsibility to leave what traces of life we can.

Building the future and keeping the past alive are one and the same thing.

  3. It's alive. Check out http://www.next-gen.biz/

I read through a couple of the features and liked what I saw. It looks to be more of what I enjoyed about Next Gen: Interesting features about games, the game industry, and a pleasant lack of cookie-cutter reviews and previews that barely register on my interest meter. It's only been active for a day or two it seems, but there's enough there to chew on for the time being. Some articles linked from the front page:

    Retail Hell
Opening your own independent game store can be a very rewarding experience, if by rewarding you mean lousy business deals, soul-crushing price drops, and a sinking feeling that you’ve made a terrible, terrible decision.

    What PlayStation 2 Really Means
Five years after its arrival, PlayStation 2 is the dominant platform in our industry. Develop's editor Owain Bennallack evaluates its life and times.

    Censor Madness Must Be Stopped
Lawmakers in various states are considering a number of proposals designed to punish retailers who sell M-rated games to children, thereby impeding all our rights to self-expression.

I thought the writing in the article about opening a retail game store was a wee bit juvenile, but that didn't stop it from being an interesting read. Will it actually survive long enough? We'll see. But 2 days in, I'm still reading!

  5. Good news, I am checking out the site now (i was surprised it's really them, when i saw the ".biz" part of the URL i figured it'd be some unrelated game business/financial site). Next Gen may have had a slant towards good graphics but they still had excellent articles both in the mag and online.

  6. Just got an email about this today. Great to have it back.

  7. I've been checking this out for the last twenty minutes or so (got the email today), and I like it. It does remind me of how Next Gen used to read. And I like how the focus is mainly on the articles themselves...there's no streaming videos, screenshot galleries, etc. For some reason I figured they'd go the IGN/GameSpot route for quick success...

Anyways, glad to see this running.
EXCUSE ME, I'M IN NEED OF MEDICAL ATTENTION!

  8. Every article that I've read on the site so far has at least one factual mistake in it, but since they're just getting started, I won't pass judgement just yet.
I definitely like the direction they're taking with it.

Me too. It points out that there are still commies out there who enjoy pushing forward with their own self-realized brady bunch fantasy of what we should be living in. (I mean seriously, stick them in Iraq for 6 months and watch how quickly they'll appreciate our country for what it is)

I guess since the mag is back (online), Diff must be busting a nut by now.

Like claiming Vice City came out in 2001?
