Gameboy Emulator on PSP

I think this deserves its own thread...

Development is real fast on the PSP and already we have the first emulator for it. The GB emulator for PSP was released by Mr. MIRAKICHI on one of the most famous forums in Japan a little while ago.

You will have to rename the GAME ROM to ROM.GB and put it to the same folder as EBOOT.PBP. Also this will only work with firmware version 1.00.

I'm kind of surprised that this was created before the other four (NES, Genesis, SNES, MAME). Sucks that it only works on firmware version 1.00, since none of the US PSPs have it. I wonder if it will eventually work in upgraded versions of the firmware, and if Sony has the ability to shut those programs out with future firmware patches.

Sony needs to just pretend to not notice. This will only help.

Sony really should just ignore emulation. If anything it will help sell PSP's. If I didnt already have one and I seen someone playing NES games on it, I'd run out and get one.

Yup, a PSP that can emulate 16 bit games will get me to buy one. I am a sucker for old games.

I've got to admit, it looks like I'll be tracking down a 1Gb card faster than I was expecting to. It's not the commercial releases that have me excited over my PSP, it's what the homebrew community is going to come up with.

This'll be cool when it's more than just Game Boy. My Game Boy Advance can already do Game Boy and Advance games.
