Ew at gamespy. Still as long as this service works well I won't complain.

This guy pretty much says what I feel:

While that might not be an indicator of the quality this new service will have, it is certainly enough to make me question the choice that Nintendo has made.
Except for the mind boggling part. Nintendo doesn't boggle my mind with poor decisions anymore.

There are no rules, only consequences.

  2. GameSpy technologies have been built-in to many PC games, and even some console games. I know Mortal Kombat: Deception was widely praised for its online, which was powered by GameSpy.

Mk: D = especially compared to something slick like Halo 2.

  4. I used to be a big fan of GameSpy... WAY BACK in the day, when Arcade didnt exist. The browser wasnt very intuitive, was pretty ugly, and required plug-in downloads for different mods. But it was fast, and efficient, and found great games to play.

But then they released Arcade, which I guess was almost like GameSpy 2.0. I hated it from day one and I think everyone agreed with me. Slow, ugly, shitty interface, blah.

But does that mean that GameSpy's work for Nintendo will be as bad? Probably not, because Arcade isnt GameSpy's focus anymore, they primarily make in-game server browsing tools (Battlefield, for example, uses GS). Anyway, you know what? I dont think its gonna be GameSpy thats the problem, its gonna be Nintendo's increasingly shoddy work that will be.

I dont think they write the netcode, just the server and server browsing tools.

  5. WELCOME TO GAMESPY...of course you used it, everyone did. I don't think speed will be a problem here as there won't be many games up to filter

  6. That doesn't seem very japanese. I do find it odd that they are allowing someone other than themselves to handle anything regarding their products.

Uhh... have you been awake the past few years? Star Fox Assault, Zelda Minish Cap, etc. are not being made by Nintendo.

    IBTN.

I'm not surprised that Nintendo outsourced online capabilities to another company instead of doing it themselves. If Nintendo was really serious about building online in-house, they would have made GC Mario Kart online.

  9. Guys, the only thing that would be innovative to nintendo in this day and age would be going 3rd party.

I meant to say, on hardware/infastructure. Especially after seeing how successful xbox live is compared to Sony's example. I would of expected Nintendo's offerring to be a little more standardized controlled experience.

Especially because Nintendo claims to be the bastion of innovation.
