Ah, I didnt think about the booby-trapped sword. Maybe we can blame this on Blade's scrubby new "tech" guy? The guy couldnt even program Blades' UVglaive/ninja star to go off when it was supposed to...Originally Posted by Dolemite

Ah, but stale pools tend to stagnate. When you don't do anything with a character in terms of development they become boring. I call this the punisher syndrome, a man with nothing to lose killing everything is fun for a few hours. But it isn't a lot to work with regarding an on going story.Just for once I'd like a movie or show where the main character is a ruthless killer and they don't try to A) humanize him or B) give him a regular guy/girl sidekick so the audience has "someone they can relate to."

Yeah I didn't like Blade caring for this random chick either, but then when you find out that her brother was working for Blade you can see why he might feel like he has some kind of responibilty towards her. All the fight scenes were complete shit, and yeah there is no excuse for Blade getting a hand laid on him by anyone other than that big ass vamp on roids. And what was up with that one scene were the dude spins around a pole and Blade stand there and waits while the guy kicks him across the room.
That's a cliche of Televiosn fight scenes. A good or bad character sees a move coming straight at him and doesn't move.
Yes. This is why someone like Spike or Angel is more fun to watch than Blade in the long run. Blade needs to get better fights to bring me in. I didn't expect anything much in terms of groundbreaking story from this TV series, but I did expect drop jaw, balls to the wall action and I didn't get it in the hand to hand department.Originally Posted by Sega saturn x
It seemed like everything was running in slow motion or just sluggish. Blade in the movies was always on the offensive, hitting a vamp 19 times in 2 seconds. I didn't watch the entire thing, though, so things could have picked up.

I agree with Dole. Goyer is a retard. He can't even remember what he wrote last week. Quaid was telling the girl (who is in those Mercury car commercials) about Blade. Didn't Blade say in Blade 1 he was found by Whistler? Now they are saying his real dad raised him for awhile. HUH? And yeah to Dole ... he was supposed to JUST recognize a familiar from a Vamp. But apparently in the TV series ... he needs special glasses. This Tech guy should not be considered a tech guy. No sundogs, no UV beams of death ... nope you get a gun filled with garlic juice. You get the star that has UV light, but hey it kinda works. You get a swoard that has no owner defense mechanism. Lame.

I got in just as the tail end of this was finishing up. Have to say I'm just as disappointed with the last half hour as I was with the first. The storytelling in general is just subpar trash. Unfortunetly any actual glimpse of hope in the action department is quickly vanquished with a smothering of the ever popular, with hack directors, slo-mo gun sequence.
As I said above. Blade needs to be quick and snappy with his movements. I don't have an issue with the choreography itself. The dance is planned out just fine. It's how the players clumsily stomp around while performing it that has me singing bad vibrations.
Marcus seems kind of cool, but the whole full blooded vampire committee thing has been done to death in this franchise, and the inconsistencies within the rules of the universe are absolutely unacceptable for a television series if you're ever going to ask your audience to extend their belief around your universe. I'll give it another episode to iron out the bumps. After that it's curtains for Blade.
I did find the seeding for future conflicts with the werewolves (lycans) kind of interesting and Marcus did actually seem like a real threat and that's always a major bonus to have working in your favor. But other than that there isn't much else to really help this show out of the hole its dug for itself.
