Thread: Official Xbox 360 Thread.

  1. Why do people feel the need to own at launch if they don't want it?
    Technolust.

Back in March and April everyone was all "plenty of good games for current systems, not gonna touch the new ones until 2007 at earliest". Then they see the things, blow their load, and are asking how they can preorder one.

Doom is my homeboy, and Serious Sam was a lot of fun... but both games are serfs in Half Life 2's kingdom. Thats all there is to it.

And oh yea, Halo 2 live = kill hundreds of mindless enemies.

  2. Saw this on Xbox.com, talking about the 360 Gamer Card and matchmaking:

    Michal
: It will display whether that person is a friend, a recent player, a preferred player, or an avoided player.

Xbox.com: Wait. So I can designate jerks as ‘avoided players’ and just never have to see them again?

Michal: Yes. I think the best thing about the gamer cards is something the gamers won’t even see because it’s on the back-end. Every time you use matchmaking in Xbox Live, the service looks at your gamercard and will match you with gamers who have similar gamerscores, reputations, and gamer zone. If you’ve made someone an avoided player, you are very unlikely to be matched with them.
I hope they make the avoided players list size a hell of a lot larger than the Friends list currently allows. 'cause I'm gonna fill it up reeeeeal quick, otherwise.

Agreed! They should make the size of avoided players list = Total Live Subscriber - 1

  5. Any speculation on what the launch day titles will be? I'm guessing:

    • Perfect Dark will probably be there, unless they're smart enough to put it back into development until it's impressive in some way.
    • Madden & a couple of basketball games, maybe FIFA.
      PGR3 will definitely be there.
    • Oblivion won't.
    • FFXI probably will be, so long as 360 Live is up & running.
    • Quake 4 is a maybe.
    • Need For Speed will be there, everyone sensible will buy PGR3 instead.
    • Probably Amped 3
    • Kameo will be delayed, but probably show up before Christmas

The 360's launch day may be less inspiring than the original Xbox's.

  6. Itd suck if Oblivion doesnt come out at launch. Like, really suck.

  7. Man, how could anybody not be excited about the next wave of systems?

This whole forum is such a buzzkill.

When the entire industry is stuck in a self-perpetutating morass of licensed dreck and repackaged concepts from five plus years ago? There has always been this trend, but is has been getting much worse over the past generation.

Sometimes I wonder how many iterations of the same damn racing game or the same damn fighting game I can take before just deciding I have seen enough (everything?) and stop caring. Shit, if I bought a X360 at launch I would probably pick up PGR3 and DoA4 with it -- which are fundamentally the exact same games that I bought with my launch Xbox! Except they've been incremented once or twice. BUH!

(Okay, Oblivion too -- but I doubt that makes it out for launch.)

  9. It makes sense. 360 degrees is a circle, so you just end up where you started from.
"I've watched while the maggots have defiled the earth. They have
built their castles and had their wars. I cannot stand by idly any longer." - Otogi 2

  10. I think the launch may not be great, but come christmas (still considered "launch window" ) there will be plenty more. Games like Dead Rising come to mind. There are the EA games that are just prettier Xbox games too like Godfather (i think).

It's a shame the direction Amped 3 is taking though, although that 2 player mini-game sounds fun.

And while games may be the "same games" we're moving towards HD and more games being online... once that's solidified, i truely believe we'll start getting some different games out there. Also, it doesn't bother me if I'm playing the 7th Smackdown game, or the 2nd Ninja Gaiden, because they are still great games, and add enough to keep me happy, unlike movie sequels.
