FFXI is a port from PS2, so I'm not too surprised that Square couldn't get it to run at 720p widescreen without majorly rewriting the code. As long as the game wasn't coded for a previous system, Xbox 360 games should run at 720p.

Remember that there's a PC version of FFXI that can easily run in 720p...

I didn't know that. Then Square is really lazy (or incompetent) if they can't port the PC version with 720p to the Xbox 360.

  5. word on the street now:

    x360 barebones - $300: one wired controller
x360 "experience" - $400: one wireless controller, xbl headset, remote, ethernet cable, 20GB hd

Actually, it's a port of the PC version. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure it was seen running in hi res at Square's Japanese event.

That would be so depressing. I don't want to believe Micosoft would do something like that. As much as I want the thing, why not just wait for PS3 if they're both going to cost that much? $400 USD = $480 CDN + tax = $552! And I haven't even bought a game yet! (And you know they're going to cost $80 CDN) The hard drive was one of the best things about Xbox, built in ethernet and the best visuals & versions of multiplatform games was the other.

PS3's going to have the technological edge, and if Microsoft splits the market from day one - and then splits it again with HD DVD - meaning most developers skip over those functions (no using the hard drive as RAM) while PS3 includes blu-ray and also has an optional HDD....

See, I really want to play:

    Oblivion
    Ridge Racer 6
    PGR 3
    Frame City Killer
    Next gen sports

but there's good reason to believe most of that will be on PS3, and I also really want to play:

    Soul Calibur 3
    Dragon Quest VIII
    Metroid Prime Hunters
    Gunstar Superheroes
    Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Fire Emblem : Path of Radiance

And no way there's time for all of it. Wow, as excited as I've been for 360, I've been hearing these rumours too often and it's such a buzzkill. I might just stick with all the excellent current gen stuff for now, and make an informed decision later on when we know what PS3 will have. Because aside from being first to market and having easier to develop for hardware, Microsoft is doing almost everything else wrong right now.

  8. Does anyone know of any stores/online where I can pre-order the non-retard XB360?

Interested, but not finding any on the major stores/google.

  9. You can't buy it online without a retarded bundle. Your best bet is to hit walmart/target/TrU/etc on the 22nd.

  10. You have to specify cka, he may mean the complete 360, hd and all, and not the retarded no hd one.
