Thread: Official Xbox 360 Thread.

  1. Because it's better than Cloning Clyde.
    False.

Once you start getting new Clyde forms CC is awesome. Galaga is a 25+ year old game which isn't fun anymore.

  2. No, it sucks. There have been no parts where you have to even make two synapses fire in your brain, the combat sucks, there is no enemy variety, the hidden figurines aren't hidden at all...

It just isn't that good. Galaga isn't the best game in the world either, but it's a lot better than CC.

  3. No, it's not better at all.

Neither is Frogger. Infact all shitty remakes and ports of games that are older than the average user are completely pointless and shouldn't be filling up Live Arcade. Even if CC really isn't better than Galaga, atleast it's original and the fun it can provide wasn't all used up before the NES released.

  4. Yeah, original is great when it's fun. This game didn't even start out as fun. At least with Galaga, I'll get an hour out of it.

  5. Well I have mutant Clyde which means I can fly, swim and explode whenever I want.

Which turned the game into a race through the levels to gian top times which is turn made it fun. Galaga is still going to be Galaga no matter how much I play it and it's still going to be the same game we've all played 100 times before.

    Kinda like... Street Fighter?

  7. I'm pretty much done with the endless rehashing of arcade games. New stuff please! Cloning Clyde may not be the greatest game ever, but it's a good time while it lasts. It's video-game popcorn.

My, they like the word "fuck" a lot.

Just passed the first mission, complete with walking into a glowing circle to start it like a certain other urban game. Beating it, I get a screen telling me I've advanced to the rank of Natural Leader. "You can now have up to one homie."

The "Snatch" mission- recruit hos and return them to the brothel for reputation points.

You get the idea on the whole "urban" thing. Painful crap.

The gameplay itself just doesn't feel quite right. Maybe it's years of GTA speaking, but the cars feel like they handle weird and run & gun just seems off, somehow. Nothing against the manual aim the game uses, rather than a lock-on, but it seems touchy. Your mileage may vary, of course.

Graphics are nice, although turning the camera quickly doesn't do good things for the background. There are some crisp, sharp visuals on display. Judging by the urban thing going on, I think I'm just as happy there's no music in the demo.

Excellent nav system. Mark a place on the pause-menu map and a green dotted line appears in the mini-map in the lower right. Very handy.

Short-term verdict- GTA wannabe that, once again, doesn't have the GTA charm. My 15 minutes of play may not be the most in-depth look at the game, though.

-edit- Played a bit more, and I'm afraid my opinion has sunk a bit more. Camera controls are pretty bad, especially in-car. Once the camera decides it wants to face the wrong way, it stays there. A quick reverse/turn/dash away means driving into the camera just long enough to crash into half the neighborhood.

Also, I found the radio. Not exactly the music I'm looking for.

Finally, the reason I stopped playing is because the demo froze. It's a demo, so I suppose I can't really say I'm surprised. It's what they do, after all.

I picked up the demo today and enjoyed it quite a bit. I found that it did several things quite a bit better than GTA. As James said, the navigation is done really well and make finding missions a breeze. The battle system is nice and switching weopons in mid fight is easy. The graphics are nice and crisp. The detailed textures blow away anything donr in GTA except for the skin textures which look like complete ass.

For now, I think SaintsRow beats any of the GTAs out right now, but will only be a place holder till the next gen GTA comes out and blows any knock offs out of the water. Until then, I will be enjoying SaintsRow.

What they need to bring out on Xbox Live Arcade are:

    Tempest 2000
    Feeding Frenzy 2

Other than that, they can bring out whatever the hell they want.

I don't approve of street fighter either.
