My, they like the word "fuck" a lot.
Just passed the first mission, complete with walking into a glowing circle to start it like a certain other urban game. Beating it, I get a screen telling me I've advanced to the rank of Natural Leader. "You can now have up to one homie."
The "Snatch" mission- recruit hos and return them to the brothel for reputation points.
You get the idea on the whole "urban" thing. Painful crap.
The gameplay itself just doesn't feel quite right. Maybe it's years of GTA speaking, but the cars feel like they handle weird and run & gun just seems off, somehow. Nothing against the manual aim the game uses, rather than a lock-on, but it seems touchy. Your mileage may vary, of course.
Graphics are nice, although turning the camera quickly doesn't do good things for the background. There are some crisp, sharp visuals on display. Judging by the urban thing going on, I think I'm just as happy there's no music in the demo.
Excellent nav system. Mark a place on the pause-menu map and a green dotted line appears in the mini-map in the lower right. Very handy.
Short-term verdict- GTA wannabe that, once again, doesn't have the GTA charm. My 15 minutes of play may not be the most in-depth look at the game, though.
-edit- Played a bit more, and I'm afraid my opinion has sunk a bit more. Camera controls are pretty bad, especially in-car. Once the camera decides it wants to face the wrong way, it stays there. A quick reverse/turn/dash away means driving into the camera just long enough to crash into half the neighborhood.
Also, I found the radio. Not exactly the music I'm looking for.
Finally, the reason I stopped playing is because the demo froze. It's a demo, so I suppose I can't really say I'm surprised. It's what they do, after all.
