It's definately not a lack of power that is the problem. I remember hearing Mizuguchi quoted saying "the Xbox 360 is more powerful than we originally been expecting". Coming from Mizuguchi you can easily deduce that it is not because the system lacks power that some of these games are so underwhelming.

And DiffX, thanks for that long winded explaination of your newly proposed theory. While I don't agree with all of it, because you will hear different things about those shows dependant on who you talk to, it is an interesting theory none the less.

Thank you. It was eating my very soul...

PDO looking so bad is indicative of them building graphics for 640x480 then not having time for new textures/models before the demo....

  4. Looks about as generic as they possibly come. Was that the Master Chief I saw?

  8. With more complex graphics comes longer development times and higher costs; without development tools that provide shortcuts that is... What we are probably seeing is the restriction of time, money and skill; not the power of the system.

Either that or graphics are following a logarithmic growth, i.e. the jump between the 16bit and 32bit generations was bigger than the jump between the 32bit and the current generation, and the difference between this generation and the next is going to be even smaller.

If that is the case, than Nintendo is right and we are all doomed.

    DOOMED!
Quick zephyrs blow, vexing daft Jim.

Microsoft is funding this thing, and it's been in the works for years.

Skill is the only factor here.

  10. It was in development for the Xbox most of the time though, wasn't it? That sort of thing usually works against the graphics, because they end up reusing a lot of the work that was done for the weaker hardware.
