Thread: Official Nintendo Wii thread

  1. It seems that only the #1 console in any generation survives into the next one. I'm sure they'll be PS2 releases until late 2007, but Xbox is already done (and for no good reason, really), and Cube is effectively on life support.

  2. Fire Emblem and Battalion Wars aren't terrible.

The Atari 2600 was $250 at launch.

    Intellivision was $300 at launch.

And Joust's mom was $3 at lunch.

    No gnus is good gnus.

  3. Your mom was $300 at launch

  4. The Xbox and Cube are dead, but not because their graphics are no good. People are waiting for the new systems. If the new systems weren't coming out, the current gen would still be getting strong sales and strong support.

Wow. Dyne out of nowhere with a brilliant post.

I personally couldn't give a fuck about 20 million hours of Oblivion and the war FPS of the week and playing online. I want something fun to play with after work. Nintendo has always fit the bill.
with my situation i guess i grew out of playing games alone and playing a LOT a couple years ago. right now i need stuff i can pick up and play, or better yet play with the gf. the gc fits that bill perfectly. i guess me and you are about the only two people here that still accept a Nintendo brand/made game as quality instead of jumping the shark and hating on them. yeah they may use their characters over and over and i can see how this disturbs most people. i myself still find their games easy to get into, easy to enjoy and a helluva lot easier to get the girl playing. while the hi-def revolution (no pun intended) is great for a lot of people, from my experience most people oogling over it are the ones that didn't have a proper pc the past couple of years. guess what people, graphics like this arent anything new. i still find it amusing that these same people that say pc gaming is cost prohibitive are the same ones plunking down for hi-def sets. ummm ok. so the graphics at least are nothing new to me, and therefore are simply not a selling point.

i really can't wait for e3. SONY will eye fuck everyone so bad the launch price will be negligible, while the Nintendo camp will still have it's dwindling diehards. i really have a feelings that slowly Nintendo can reel more in if the price is right and the devs stick with the system.

Microsoft (while i love them dearly and i have a great buddy that works for them) have done jack shit since their launch to make me say "yeah i'm sticking it out with you guys". because honestly while i say i'll get a Rev before the other two, it doesn't necessarily mean i'll get a system for sure. it's just the one i would pick if i end up buying one.

same thing evey gen. there could still be some quality coming out of the systems but with the next gen development prices and timetables being as high as they are, it was a no-brainer for most companies to jump ship.

the ps2 has a couple more big games, the gc has zelda and i honestly don;t know what's on the xbox besides ports.

Do we really need to upgrade our consoles? I mean they look and sound flashy and crisp, but would the xbox,gc and ps2 have become unjoyable past 2007?

I dont know, but we did upgrade our PlayStations and N64s didn't we?

    And our SNESes and Genesises?

  8. If that Nintendo Go thing doesn't turn out to be bogus, it could end up being their online service.

Snes and Genesis kinda had to happen. They couldn't do 3D.

N64 and PS2 though are arguable. I'm not saying never upgrade. Just pace your fucking selves. It seems as if companies only make shit to look forward at the next thing. If MS would hold off until 08 or 09 wouldn't it be cheaper to produce the 360 then since all the components aren't brand fucking new anymore.

But then other components would be out that would be new.

    This is technology.
