Alright, I suppose 100% is a bit much. But I DO think someone could get damn close to that without any sort of help in 10 hours. Though I'm sure there would be a few random powerups that would keep you from getting 100% your first time through. But my point being, you can still play through the game your first time and not have much difficulty beating it. And if your idea of fun is spending 5 hours looking for one final powerup to get your 99% completion to 100%, then well I guess we just have a difference of opinion in what makes a game great. But now I feel like I'm trashing the game... its still an incredible game regardless of how quickly/easily you can beat it your first time through.

  2. Super Metroid is easy and I don't think anyone denies that. I just don't think that makes it any worse.

For SNES anyways, definitely the best ever IMHO. Super Metroid followed closely by Chrono Trigger and SMW2 are my three personal ultimate "old school" epics. And yes, LttP is still awesome.

BTW, Metoid Dread was a cool name.
Yeah it was, as I said in the thread I linked to (before i found out it was cancelled), I was really looking forward to seeing how the name "Dread" would impact the overall theme and feel of the game.

Maybe NOJ told EAD to just put it on the backburner since we are getting a lot of Metroid already this year with Hunters and pinball (Dread woulda been the better choice...)

True, and a lot of the best games out there are easy.

I think Zero Mission kind of crossed the line into too easy though on the Normal setting(I would hate to try it on Easy and Hard would have been too hard for a first play through I think). Still, the game is awesome and would rank it second in the series after Super. It gives me faith that the 2d DS Metroid could end up being the best one.

  5. I actually borrowed a Zero Mission player's guide from a co-worker today, I'm finally gonna get 100% collection so I can try hard mode.

Yeah I'm not denying that its still a great game regardless. I was just shocked by how many people thought that Fusion was sooo ridiculously easy in comparison. They both seemed about the same for me, though the bosses in Fusion were a bit easier.

  7. See, I found the bosses in Fusion to be far more difficult than in Super, Ridley being the lone exception (harder in Super than Fusion).

  8. Yeah, I thought Ridley was a complete push over in Fusion. I don't recall having too many problems with any of the bosses in either game, I was just sooo dissapointed with Ridley in fusion (especially after playing Prime, which was the first metroid game I'd ever played).

Maybe but FWIW Meta Ridley was way tougher than Ridley in Zero Mission (unfortunately)
