Thread: The Aristocrats

  1. The joke isn't funny. But its powerful and dangerous and thats why its interesting.
    your mom

  2. That was fucking hysterical! It's so great, it's so fucking great, anyone that appreciates a dirty joke needs to go see this. Nothing else in a long time that I can recall even comes close to how much this made me laugh, it was almost South Park: BLU territory.

The mime was utterly amazing, but probably my favorite scene just because of the perfect acting:

    Joe Franklin raped me.

  3. I have to say,

my favorite version of the joke came from the mime. It hurt when I laughed.

  4. Hmm

I dunno. I love to laugh and all, but after hearing both samples in this thread, I don't understand how 50x that much is going to make me want to sit through it all in one sitting. The SP one is funny predominantly because it's Cartman, and the TP one just didn't make me laugh, probably because the delivery was not very good. I want to hear Saget's and Godfried's though.

I just don't see how this would make me roll around laughing for 100 variations. Must be some liberal thing. And no, I'm not just bringing up politics just be to that guy or anything, but to me this says much more about a certain group of people saying "Oh man look how we can offend certain groups of people that are on the opposite of the political spectrum!" more than it does about "Let's see how funny this can be". But I'll check it out eventually. It's interesting, nonetheless.

  5. Is Sarah Silverman dirty? I'm going to jerk off in the theater for her segment

Yeah, because liberals never get offended.

This is one issue where the right and the left are both in agreement for different reasons (and they're both wrong). The left wants censorship because they don't see people as being responsible for what they watch and they need to "protect" people, and the right wants to be the thought police and preserve their sense of morality. Comedians hate both of these groups.

Some of the dirtiest comedians in the business are missing from this bill though. You gotta wonder why there's no Jim Norton or Dave Attel or Patrice O'Neal, and maybe a dozen other of my favorite comics. Come to think of it, it's most LA comdeians, and the New York scene gets shafted (which sucks because I love the New York comedy scene right now).

  7. You missed the point. I am not saying that's why the movie got made.

I am saying that that's why I think a lot of people enjoy it. I am sure that some people (even in this thread) enjoy it for "legitimate" reasons. Where does this movie get the best reviews? Salon.com, Rolling Stone, etc. Look for yourself.

No, that's not why "shock" humor is funny. It's an absurdist thing. It's about startling the audience in unexpected ways, and I laugh at that kind of stuff alot, so I understand it. It has nothing to do with offending anyone else. Even if it's a room full of dirty bastards if you can say something revolting enough it's going to be funny. It's about being as over the top as you can possibly be.

  9. Yes, that is why SOME people find it funny. That is not why ALL people find it funny though.

You know the saying "The enemy of my enemy is my friend"? If this was the same exact movie telling some anti-liberal joke 100 times, do you think Salon would roll around in pure fits of laughter, even if it was just as "well done" (which is arguable, but whatever)? No.

Besides, how unexpected can this be if 100 people tell the joke in a different way? This could have been...SHOULD have been...much shorter. That's exactly what Ebert said, and while he isn't the word of law or anything, he knows more about movies than some politically motivated asshat at Salon.

I'm glad you find it funny. That's fantastic. I am just pointing out how petty some reviewers can be. They don't REALLY find it that funny. I don't want to get all "conspracy theory" and derail the thread, but this is exactly how childish some people are.

I'm interested in seeing it too. But if I am not dying of laughter the whole time, I am going to cry BS on this 78% score at Rotten Tomatoes because I laugh more than pretty much everyone else on this planet

  10. Oh for fuck's sake. Just shut up and go watch the damn movie.
