These games didn't make it out in time for the DC's launch. MvC and KoF came out in october, Armada in november or december.

And King of Fighters '99: Dream Match is the best game ever made, for my money, justifying the DC's existence by itself.

  2. Pound for pound, as it was stated, the DC was THE most mediocre system ever. Besides the few games that saw the light of day on it, the DC turned out to be nothing more than a rookie developers testing kit. Sonic Adventure and SA 2 were garbage. Sega waited until they killed it to bring out the remakes and the big guns. I really could go into a drawn out list, like some guys love to do, but I truly feel that, for the most part, video games died after Sega killed the Saturn. There were some truly unique games, games of skill, that blessed the Saturn. Every system after that has been nothing more than crappy attempts at big name publishers trying to cash in, with a few spots of sunshine in between. I doubt that we will ever see the hay-days of the SNES and Genesis ever again. The XBOX is struggling just like the Gamecube, simply because all of the games and game ideas that are on them now, have already been done on the PS2, again, a few bright spots excluded. Originality is gone and the market is collapsing. Sooner than later, there will be no "new" games, just rehashes.

Of the 32 DC games that I once owned, I played 4 to completion and the rest were just a laughable waste of money. I finished Grandia 2, Shenmue(snicker), Armada, and Soul Calibur(if you consider it a beatable game). Like I said, the rest were just crap. A very scant few held my interest with their multi player aspects, like Virtua Tennis and Worms Armagedeon, but past that, I really cant see why the DC had such a loyal following. Sega has never cared about their LOYAL fans and they never will. They screwed u all with the DC and they are whoring themselves out to the highest bidder these days. It is almost like pro sports is these days. The good stuff is almost all gone.
    Quit blaming the controller.

  3. Just a sidenote. Sports games are not REAL video games and therefore never factor into my thought process. If you spend any amount of time playing a sports game, you are nuts. The level of ingenuity involved is a joke.
    Quit blaming the controller.

  4. Look at all the people coming to the defense of the Dreamcasted. Wow.

Show me that part in the forum rules that says I can't use color...

    I didn't think so.

Why am I so "hostile"? If Rhydant wouldn't bitch and moan about me using color (and to the degree he did, too), I would have been a little more tactful about it. It's not MY fault that he-just ONE user amongst a gazillion, can't stand it. If it's really that much a pain-in-the-ass, skip it. It won't bother me one bit if you do, but I'll be damned if something along the line of what Rhydant did will be aimed at me.

    Have a good one.

Sounds more like your just a jaded gamer, that has outgrown your hobby and are looking for the magic that systems like SNES and Genesis brought you as a kid. Get over it. I once felt that way towards the end of the 16-bit console era. I grew tired of the same old platform and shooters being done by everyone and their brother. Than the Saturn came out, and gaming became exciting again. Saturn was a great console, but to say that gaming died after Sega pulled the plug on Saturn, pretty much sums up how you feel about gaming in general.

While PSX, and N64 were not my favorite consoles (Thought Saturn was better), they did provide many hours of great gaming. I enjoyed Destruction Derby, Warhawk, Final Fantasy VII, Super Mario 64, Pilot Wings, Colony Wars, Zelda TOOT, Wave Race, Wipeout, and many other games worth mention. What exactly are you playing, if you think gaming has died since Saturn? Your jaded opinion is blinded by what seems to be a lack of enjoyment for videogames in general. I on the other hand, have'nt had so much fun playing games, since the launch of the Saturn, with all that Dreamcast gave me with online games, and exclusive content yet to be found on the other consoles.

I doubt anyone is here for any sort of serious gaming discusions since this is a joke thread.
I'm not sure if I totally got your point. While the climate of the industry is important, I think the happenings in the gaming industry is second to the end product. In other words, (for me) it all comes down to the games, and the DC has many of my favorites. Power Stone, Sonic Adventure, and Soul Calibur made the DC launch my all time favorite. I still play Soul Calibur to this day, Power Stone was an amazing breakthrough for fighting games, and Sonic Adventure was one of the last games to blow my mind.

No, most people have moved on from this topic. The heading is'nt exactly a crowd gatherer is it?

Then what are they. Just because you lack an interest in sports games, does'nt mean they are'nt videogames. Play a game of Madden on a PSX, then play a version of it on the PS2. Big difference! Video games are about competition, and beating opponent, whether it be a level boss, or a sports game's opponent. The goal is basically the same, just a different way of reaching an outcome. I guess Street Fighter 2 is'nt a game either. It's just throwing punches, kicks and throwing objects. Does'nt have anyting to do with being a videogame? Is the sarcasm thick enough?

  10. Full of wit tonight arent we?

Keep in mind...all of this is just my opinion. As a parting note, I have never been interested in "gathering a crowd".

And, no, sports games are not real games. They are simulations. I suppose that I could go on...but I will make this comparison. There are movies and there are films. If you dont understand the difference, then you are wasting time here. There are games and there are simulations. Films and movies. Games and simulations. And, to add a little something, all of the PSX games that you listed, Madden not included, I played and enjoyed. My whole point behind this was to point out the severe lack of ingenuity and creativity that developers show. Guess I took too much of an "intelectual" approach.
    Quit blaming the controller.
