Thread: Xbox & GameCube vs. 3DO & Jaguar

  1. First of all, ECM was a dickhead! Secondly, everyone needs to get up off of Sega's dick. They fucked everyone! If it was MS doing what Sega did to us over the years you would all be crying about how Bill Gates is the devil(not that I give a fuck about MS). Get over it! It's better for everyone that Sega went 3rd party. The guys that know they got fucked wouldn't go back anyway and the ones that don't know they got fucked are getting saved from their own stupidity.

I'm sure most of us know the diffence, between a "film", and a movie. A movie is a general term for any filmed story, which is more than an hour in length. Film, is a term used by movie critics, to show that a movie has some artisic or redeeming value. Wow!

So my point was, that if you really thought that gaming died after the Saturn, why would you play all those supposedly crappy games, after you thought that gaming held no value, after the Saturn died. Makes one sound like a complete ass, especially after you bothered to purchase a mediocre Dreamcast and 32 games. It took the purchase of 32 game for you to figure out, that you thought the DC was mediocre? Now that's funny.

Cretins! All of you!(eye twitching violently)

By the way, "gamevet", I put "intelectual" in quotes for a reason. Yer quick.

    Mwahhahahaha!!

    And I still miss ECM.

No, that was just plain dry sarcasm, and poorly done.

But if MS had been making great games for two decades we'd all feel differently about the company.

What does a company making great games have to do with getting the fist right in your ass? I don't know about you but I don't care what anyone has done, I don't want the fist.

Regardless, the Saturn and DC still had a great lineup of games, even though the systems had short lived shelf life. I'm still getting more bang for the buck out of my DC, over my PS2 or Gamecube. How many great titles will the X-Box have, by the time it hits the same shelf time as those other 2 Sega consoles had.

  7. I did love the Saturn. I think it had a ton of great games. I think the DC is the most overrated system ever. It had a bunch of decent games but I can't think of any GREAT games besides Soul Calibur, Code Veronica, and the 2k2 franchise. Even if these systems do have great games it doesn't change the fact that Sega doesn't give a fuck about the people. If they did they wouldn't have lied about continued support for the DC. They knew full well they weren't bringing those games out for the DC. They were making all of these hush hush deals with the other hardware makers. They just said that bullshit to sell the remaining stock of DC hardware. You can love them if you want, but I see them for the scum that they are. Do you continue to shop at the same store when the salemen keeps trying to rip you off? If so you're a dumb fuck. I for one go somewhere else. It's not like I really cared about any of the games they put out after the 16 bit era anyway.

Was it really that bad? Who bought a Dreamcast without knowing the odds were stacked against it lasting? It was hardly a great shock to anyone when Sega announced its discontinuation. And I sincerely doubt they did it to spite anyone; it was because they were millions upon millions of dollars in debt and PS2's launch meant thigns weren't going to get any better.

The one thing that I thought was a real screw-job was not releasing Shenmue II in the US and Canada. At that point they were on the cusp of raking in tons of money through their newfound third-party status, and selling it off to Microsoft left them going out of first-party land with their tails between their legs rather than their heads held high.

But other than that, I don't think Sega did anything to screw gamers in the Dreamcast generation.

This is always the response when I post like this. I KNEW all along it wouldn't be easy for the DC. I was even ok when I heard them announce they were leaving. The problem is from the god damn lies about supporting the system after they announced the bail out on the DC. You know they were full of shit. It wasn't just with Shenmue II either. That was just the final nail in the coffin.

But they did continue to support the system - it was pronounced dead at the beginning of february 2001, and Sega's last game came out in february of this year. I agree, SoA could have done more, in the form of Rez, Headhunter and maybe Guilty Gear, but all in all they didn't just drop the thing cold.
