Xbox 360.
PS3.
360 will be the first one. I have faith that PDZ will turn out to be above average and PG3 can always fill the void. Also, I should be able to play Halo 2 and Forza or anything else live enabled on it. Live truly is the new standard more so than fancy graphics. I'll also pick up a PS3 at launch as well, providing there is a new ridge racer available. Sony is going to have to bring a service on par for live, otherwise they just going to get the system purchase from me. I'll rent the games until I'm done with them.
Finished Games of '09
nothing at this time

Seeing as how I'm only getting one or the other, I'm leaning toward PS3.
The way I see it. if I'm going to make the jump to high def, then I may as well do it right and go all digital, which only PS3 is capable of.
PS3 will not have something like Live... Sony said they didn't want to "force" their third parties to have to adhere to rules Sony puts, so each company makes their own online, just like it is now for PS2.
Please explain to me what you mean by this.Originally Posted by kedawa

PS3 is the only system to support HDMI (basically digital video and digital audio in one connection) and it's the only sytem that supports 1080p, which is the highest resolution defined by the high definition standard.
XBOX 360 can only output 1080i, and only through an analog connection.
That's still very good, but if I'm putting down $2k or so on a console, a display, and a sound system, then I want the absolute best.
I'm sure there will be plenty of online games on PS3, even though they won't have a standard interface. On the upside, most of the games will likely have free online play.
Both systems are going to have some great games, but I'm counting on the PS3 to have a more robust library in the long run.
My TV only supports up to 1080i, so that's just fine with me... I thought 360 was going to support DVI, but oh well, I only use component right now anyway. Was going to save the port for HD-DVD.Originally Posted by kedawa

I'll definitely get a PS3 at launch if it means getting Warhawk and MGS4 that same day but if not, I'll wait. MGS4 is the biggest sell to me because I want to see that system push some great graphics on a game I've wanted ever since MGS2 ended.
I'll have to see more Xbox 360 games on display or a good lineup enough altogether to make me want as much as MGS4 but the design of the 360 definitely kicks the PS3's ass even if the shape is a bit weird to me.

I wont buy a 360 til I spend a good amount of time on someone elses.
And even then, probably not because I'm a cheap bastard. Maybe when Halo 3 comes out.
PS3? Day one.
Your facts are all wrong. All wrong.Originally Posted by kedawa
I find it amazing how people will get a PS3 day one when no one knows what it "really" will be like and what will be available, yet the 360 is "real" and they are hesitant. If you don't like the games available for it, fine, I can understand that.... but who's the say the PS3 won't be exactly the same way at launch. Personally, there are a good chunk of games that will be available at launch, or close to it, for the 360, so I'm very excited about it, and it's not just blind faith in a company.
