Thread: New Resident Evil Films Confirmed

  1. Film New Resident Evil Films Confirmed

Not sure how many peeps here actually loved the Resident Evil films, but it looks like we're getting more than another sequel on the way.

While it's probably obvious for saying this, but fans of the Resident Evil feature films expected a new sequel to be in the works. But did you expect another one to follow after that? That's the latest buzz as reported by Hollywood Reporter. Both films will be scripted by Paul W.S. Anderson, who directed the first live-action film (and here's a fun fact for you -- he's also responsible for the first Mortal Kombat flick!)

Although we don't know a great deal of details at the moment, one thing we can confirm is that Millia Jovovich will reprise her role as the kickass femme fatale Alice. The next film, entitled Resident Evil: Afterlife will be set somewhere in the Southwestern area of the United States (but HR notes that the filming will take place in Australia). As for the fourth iteration, no name has been announced as of yet, but get this -- she'll be kicking zombie butt in Toyko? (Yes, the film is actually shot on location in Japan). Color us intrigued. We can't wait to hear more about how the next RE films as the news develops. Stay tuned.

On a related note of films based on video game properties, several other big names will be hitting the big screen very shortly. The most obvious one includes Master Chief himself in what hopefully will be a very authentic, very action-packed recreation of the Halo franchise. Considering how much money and business muscle Microsoft is putting behind the project to ensure that Bungie oversees the development from the ground up, fans could be in treat. Other discussed game properties include Konami's Silent Hill and Ubisoft's Prince of Persia. More on those soon.

I saw the first one and it was horrible, so I didn't even bother watching the second one. I thought it was lame how they tried to make the characters in Apocolypse look like the characters in the games.

How about a Resident Evil movie that's actually scary? Enough with the action BS. Let's see a Resident Evil horror film.
