The first episode, which airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. EDT, follows Spurlock and his fiancée, Alex, as they move to Ohio and try to live off minimum-wage jobs for a month. Combining the reality genre with lots of information and some slippery issues in American life, Spurlock has created a fascinating and informative show that broadens viewers' horizons at a time when our policies are as narrow-minded and myopic as ever.
I enjoyed Super Size Me and look forward to catching (or at least taping) the replay. I want to see the episode where he takes an anti-gay army guy from Michigan and moves him to the Castro in San Francisco, California (think Chinatown, only gay).

  2. Interesting concept. There's supposed to be an episode where he goes on steriods or something for a month and heavily hits the gym.

Hopefully there's an episode where he tries out being an abusive boyfriend for a month and beats the shit out of his annoying girlfriend, preferably while he still has the added strength from the steroids.

This guy's attempt to latch onto as much fame as he can get is pathetic. When I watched Super Size Me, I was hoping he was going to die right toward the end of the movie. I think everyone was.

I don't get this hate. He had an interesting concept for a movie, even if a bit spun. This show should be entertaining to watch if nothing else.

  5. I agree. I hated the concept of Super Size Me, but after watching it I at least thought it was very entertaining. This show will probably be too.

  6. I'm watching it tonight.

I wonder if his "study" is affected by his knowing that he will be doing said task for only 30 days.

    Anyways it should be entertaining

  7. So it's like Jackass (the parts where they hurt themselves anyway), but over a longer period of time and with some pretense of relevance?

    Whee.

  8. I just got done watching it and I found it very enjoyable. It was very well made, and it didn't feel sensationalistic. It's worth checking out.

I opted to watch the PSP episode of South Park instead.

So like, what were the highlights?
"Chuy, you're going to have a magical life. Because no matter where you go, it's always going to be better than Tucson."

  10. I watched that south park as well, I caught the 1am repeat of this show.

Okay, the premise of this episode was that he and his girlfriend had to live off of minimum wage for a month. The rules were that they could only work minimum wage jobs and they would start off with one weeks pay and they do not have a car and have to rely on public transportation. So they start off with $300+ or so, and they keep a running tally on screen through out the episode. Right off the bat they go into debt by getting a dirty little apartment with no furnature and has a bug problem. Morgan gets a job at a temp agency doing construction/landscaping and his girl works at a coffeshop. Whenever they get any cash they quickly lose it, and they fight about the money. The big highlight is that eventually they both have to go to the hospital for something, she gets sick and he hurts his wrist and their bills are rediculously high especially for the minor care they recieved. Through out the whole thing facts and figures are tossed at you about how the government hasn't raised minimum wage since 1997. All in all it was definetly worth watching.
