Thread: Strangers with Candy: The Movie!

  1. Strangers with Candy: The Movie!

A prequel to the Comedy Central series of the same name, this is the story of Jerri Blank (Amy Sedaris), a forty-six year old ex-con, junky whore who decides to return home after thirty-two years as a runaway.

Jerri decides to turn her life around by picking it up exactly where she left off - as a high school freshman. But the path to the prom is fraught with adolescent problems and temptations that plague all teenagers, but especially this middle-aged former boozer, user and loser.

Directed by Paul Dinello, "Strangers with Candy" is the brainchild of Stephen Colbert, Dinello and Sedaris, who also wrote the screenplay. The film stars Sedaris, Colbert, Dinello and features appearances by Allison Janney, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ian Holm.

Yeah, having just season one is such a tease. The UCB have another movie coming out, called Wild Girls Gone. Hopefully Martin and Orloff gets a DVD release. I was lucky enough to catch it in the theater and it was quite good.

Suprised you guys haven't heard about the SWC film. I guess Amy Sedaris became friendly with Sarah Jessica Parker while she was on sex and the city so Sarah agreed to play the french teacher, and Broderick is the driver ed teacher or something. The Onion has a really good interview with Amy from around the time they were beginning the film.

Sedaris, Colbert, and Dinello wrote a book together called Wigfield. Its fucking hillarious. At one point I was laughing hysterically for 3 minutes straight.
