You don't have to be smart; you don't have to know the facts, you just have to be confident.

A dvd rental is like 4 something plus tax around me. I hardly pay more than 10 dollars for a dvd so I figure I can take a few chances if I ever blind-buy anything.

Just a few days ago I blind-bought Roadhouse for a measly $2.50. Even if it sucked (which it totally didn't) I only would've lost less money than a video rental (plus now I get to keep it).

Protip:The local library usually has loads of good stuff to borrow too. You can even place reserves on titles and get notified when they arrive.

  4. You put some weird options up there Mc Donalds Kiosk? Since when does "Micky D's" rent out movies?

"Quarter Pounder with Cheese? Would you like some ScarFace with that?"

  5. Yea, the McDs around me got Redbox kiosks or something that rents newer releases (2 months old and newer) for $1 a day. You use your credit card. Good deal if you only rent newer mainstream releases.

Ive never heard of that. Very strange. So what, if you turn in the movie late, they just charge your credit card? Sound plan, I guess, but their selection and how many of a certain movie they have must suck - still not a bad idea though.

Manhattan has something similar called "Moviebank".

    Actually, I think it's a worldwide operation.

Hollywood Video all the way. Not only do they have a great selection, but you can't beat their MVP deal. For, like, fifteen bucks a month you can rent all the movies you like(so long as you only have up to three out at a time). I find myself watching a new movie just about every other day. IT PAYS FOR ITSELF!

Blockbuster Online. Flat fee a month, I watch as many as I can stand and they get mailed to my house. The turnaround between me mailing and receiving a movie is like 2 nights, the service has been awesome so far.

It really shines with the DVD TV seasons, which are great to finally watch every episode of something. Buying all those seasons would be fiscal murder, and I'd seldom watch them more than once.

If I buy a DVD, it has to be something special.
