I enjoyed Yoshi Story. The biggest pitfall for it was it's legacy. I think everyone was expecting Yoshi Island 2, and what we got was something very different.
On it's own it's a fun game that would be neat to do a score attack for. I was playing it a few months ago and enjoying my time with it, although my fiancee would cringe whenever she heard the Yoshi song.
I do think Yoshi Story was one of the bigger Nintendo disappointments back when it came out, though. The first of many.

You are out of your mind. LoZ;OoT had better action, gameplay storytelling, sound, characters and pretty much everything you could improve in a game was improved.Originally Posted by Yoshi
What did Link to the Past have? A light/Dark world "Yawn"
Starfox 64 is better than snes starfox. For pretty much al the reasons OoT was better than Link to the Past.
Mario Bros/Mario 64 is debatable, but Mario 64 is better than a vast majority of the nes-snes marios.
Zelda was best on GB, Starfox is debatable and Mario 64 is one of the best games ever, possibly the very best.

IBTN. Link's Awakening is the best game in the series, StarFox SNES was never very good, and Super Mario 64 rocks your face.Zelda was best on GB, Starfox is debatable and Mario 64 is one of the best games ever, possibly the very best.
I see no one complaning besides you. There are other threads you can read.Originally Posted by diffusionx
I think if you had to play ALL of the levels in Yoshi's Story as opposed to skipping a bunch of levels to beat the game, the game would have garnered a lot more respect. As it was, it's way too easy to beat the game. And sniffing around for all the special light green fruits (I forget what they're called) just isn't very fun. I wonder whose idea it was to allow the game to be beaten without playing nearly all of the levels?
but isn't this the case in almost every mario game? And those games are usually pretty fun.Originally Posted by kevincal
If a player chooses to take the shortest possible path to the end, the levels he has to go through should be good enough to generate interest in the other optional levels.
Yoshi's story just didn't really have that going for it.
