Most people wouldn't know it, but it's thanks to Kilby video games are a part of everyday life. Kilby invented the integrated circuit that now powers most modern electronic devices, video games included.

Kilby worked as an employee at Texas Instruments for a number of years, where he also co-invented the handheld calculator.

"In my opinion, there are only a handful of people whose works have truly transformed the world and the way we live in it - Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, the Wright Brothers and Jack Kilby," said Texas Instruments chairman Tom Engibous.
The inventor was awarded the Nobel Prize for physics in 2000. Survived by by two daughters, five granddaughters, and a son-in-law, Kilby was also inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 1982.
This man came up with the idea of integrated circuits? Talk about being inspired... Lets have a moment of silence for the original computer-genius man.
