There's a lot of backlash about how it's a Oscar-tailored movie, but it's still decent for what it is. Worth seeing for Paul Giamatti.

I wish this money-back guarantee was offered on all of the movies they show. Also,I wonder if the movie itself is really not generating any profit or the AMC theaters themselves arent doing too well this summer?A lot of people are loving "Cinderella Man" it seems, especially film exhibitors. The Russell Crowe Depression-era drama has made headlines recently for being not only one of the best reviewed films of the year, but one of the lesser attended. After four weeks of release the film has taken in around $50 million dollars, even in this current box-office slump that's a disappointment - especially considering the good buzz.
Now, AMC Theatres hopes to keep the film from throwing in the towel. The Hollywood Reporter indicates that in an effort to spread positive word-of-mouth about the boxing drama that stars Russell Crowe, AMC is making moviegoers an unusual offer of a money-back guarantee. Ticket buyers who don't like the film are promised that their money will be refunded, no questions asked.
The theater chain, the country's second largest, began the promotion Friday with ads saying "AMC believes 'Cinderella Man' is one of the finest motion pictures of the year! We believe so strongly that you'll enjoy 'Cinderella Man,' we're offering a MONEY BACK GUARANTEE".
Either way, I may have to check it out one of these nights.Ive already decided thats its gonna suck though![]()

Guess all you have to do is make a movie about an underdog boxer to get an Ocscar in Hollywood these days....

apparently it cost $88 million to make, i have no idea how a simple movie about boxing would cost so much (other than Crowe's salary i suppose). So it's lost a lot of money. I think people just don't like boxing that much and they've already seen Rocky. Even those 2 boxing reality shows that were on (The Contender and some other one) did very poorly in the ratings as well and helping contribute to the public's fill of the sport. There really is only one angle on boxing that's ever been done and it's tired.
It's a period movie with a lot of extras and a bunch of sets.Originally Posted by stormy

They did a lot of colour alteration on the film (if you've seen set shots and then compare it to the film itself you'll be able to recognize the difference). They also did some compositiing work, which isn't cheap (I'm not sure if they did compositing 100%).Originally Posted by Sqoon
