Most people regaurd Aliens as the better film. It was directed by Cameron, who also directed Terminator 2. Besides, who didn't love Bill Paxton's character?

Well I overall liked Aliens better to be honest. That doesn't mean I don't like Alien though. I love the first two. It's the others that I really hate.

Gladiator's ending battle was rather lame to me. A great film, but I just found the battle with Phoenix to be rather hmmm.

    Actually I found it fitting,

He's the king and yet when he dies he goes out with a wimper. Maximus has his body carried out of the colissium while Phoenix is left there untouched.

He's the emperer, yet he decides to battle someone that is beyond his skills. Would this have really happened in those times of Rome?

I'm trying to figure out how to react to this, but all I can think of is:

Isn't this what livejournal is for?

Not trying to be harsh, but there it is.

It's quite simple, actually. Aliens is the better film hands down.
    Time for a change

    Nope,

    But I respect your opinion.

Well I think it's based on some factual events. I read up on a few of those guys, I'm not sure which one it was but he was known for fighting in the arena along with slaves to prove his skills.

LOL. I hate it when people say something wasn't good, or should have been another way without looking at the undertones and story of the movie before running their mouth off half cocked. People did it for The Last Samurai too (HE SHOULD HAVE DIED!!!111). These aren't videogames, the stories and things that happen happen for a reason (usually). Just take a step back and gain some perspective why looking at events and themes the movie is trying to convey.

The emporer wanted to kill a man who defied him, to quell the rebellious nature he inspired in people. His greed and lust for power eventually caused his own death.

Yeah I know why the emporer wanted him dead, I have the movie in my collection. He could have put Maximus in a fight(in the colosium) that he couldn't have won. Though that wouldn't have made for a good ending to the movie.

I still like the movie and would rank it a 9 out of 10, but Conan is the man!
