Thread: Dig Dug DS screens.

  1. I got this a few days ago for review - DO NOT SPEND $30 ON THIS. If you see it for sale at Circuit City for $10, get it, otherwise just skip over it.

I really liked Pac Pix as well, I just thought the gameplay was old by stage Nine.

Wow. Nothing personal, but for you to say this the game must be shallow.

  3. Yup, that's the major problem with it. It's just Dig Dug spruced up, and you can get that on a few thousand compilations for less money.

  4. Yeah. A lot of people tell me stuff that i ignore anyway. Mind telling us why? I mean, i love Dig Dug and Dig Dug II and i'm a fan of the Driller series.

Harg. So, you like posted ahead of me. Doy, Finch.

  5. I love them too, but I couldn't justify spending $30 on this. It's a great Dig Dug, and the improved visuals help it a bit, but there's not really anything new here. The story mode has a lot of bits I like (an island shaped like Pac-Man, Taizo being an emotionally-charged character, and Sesumu trying to help but just making his father more annoyed), but there just doesn't seem to be much depth to things beyond the game.

Thankfully, Dig Dug doesn't really need much beyond the game, but it seems like there just isn't enough here for a $30 game. I could see myself paying up to $15 for this without it being a clearance item, but nothing more. I can't help but think releasing it at $20 would have helped them a lot.

  6. It's kind of what i was expecting from DDDS, so i'll pick it up when i have a few extra bucks.

  7. Cool. It's a good enough game and all, but there isn't a lot of meat to it. I do love how difficult they made things though, and there's a lot of strategy needed to take out bosses. Actually, that does put more into the game, since you can keep replaying them to find the most efficient way to sink the bosses.

  8. Now you're just making me want it more. If the music only plays when Taizo walks, i'm there.
I'm interested to read the full review.

  9. Just picked this up, and we'll see how it is when I get home. Classic Dig Dug works for me. It could go either way, as these Namco DS titles have been for me. Mr. Driller and Pac Pix = yay, Pac N Roll = SMASH IT AGAINST THE FUCKING WALL.

Umm. Yeah. And Whac A Mole DS has already dropped to $20. I can't wait to pick it up for $5. Can't blame Activision.. the dev budget was probably less than the cost of three copies of the game at retail.

  10. Yes, the music does only play when Taizo walks, and it's nice to see that feature adhered to. I can't recall it being followed correctly in the Museum collections.
