Yes, of course the Japanese name is better, right remnant?

They're not renamed Project Zero for EU territories. They're renamed Fatal Frame for the NA releases. The original, Japanese game name is Project Zero.

I disagree. An example where this is true though is Biohazard being changed to Resident Evil. Resident Evil is a much cooler title.

You prefer it to sound like an action B-movie that involves soldiers, possibly space soldiers?

Another Code sounds like a subtitle to the sequel of something (it would make a good one for Trace Memory), I think Trace Memory is a lot better because it gives the feeling of multiple meanings.

  6. Another Code just sounds nicer and has the right ring of mystery to it. Trace Memory: Is that an imperative, like I'm being told to trace this thing called memory? Is it a thing, like a Trace of a Memory, and if so, shouldn't it be Trace of a Memory, or Traces of Memory? And Trace Memory has the complex 'tr' and that elongated 's' and the end of 'trace', leading gracelessly into the dull consonant 'm' of memory.

I like how you express that a title which strikes me as saying, "We've done this before," as interesting since it has mystery to it (especially since it describes absolutely nothing and could belong to either a futuristic thriller about computers or a documentary on how Native Americans helped the US in WWII), yet you don't like how Trace Memory has a double meaning.

  8. My, my... critique, if you will, was conducted purely on aesthetic terms. I ignored the meaning, since meaning does not matter in this case (or in any other case, it could be said). It's all about the sound of the title. Initial impressions (the only impressions that matter) tell me there's something wrong with 'Trace Memory'. It doesn't sound correct.

My initial feelings on Another Code is that it's a short from the Animatrix, it comes off as very generic and I have no real clue what it could possibly be about. Trace Memory immediately tells me "mystery story, most likely involving someone's hidden/forgetten history." The words themselves in titles say something right away to me, beyond whether or not they fit together, and to that end I think it's a good change.

(I don't mean to drag this out or attack you, I'm really just kinda bored.)

  10. Trace Memory and another code are both decent names, but another code just sounds more ominous. I can see a harlequin(sp) novel being called trace memory.

On the other hand Another Code sounds a bit more dangerous and suspenseful. Maybe it justs me.
