Don't forget Ultima VII, Serpent Isle, Wing Commander 3, and System Shock 1 and 2.
And M.U.L.E, Relentless, Archon, etc. There's no denying EA's history as a publisher of awesome games in a variety of genres. The damage they did to various developers is another story.

On the topic of RE5, I can relate with those missing the adventure/survival aspects. RE4 is one of the best action games ever made but I'm one of few that liked REmake just as much being a fan of the puzzle and fear elements. At least there's still the Fatal Frame series for that style of horror game.

  2. I could never get into fatal frame sadly, it was just too clunky and frustrating.

The new Alone in the Dark certainly has the adventure and survival parts nailed. You have to scavenge for supplies a lot, and you'll often run around desperately looking for a way to kill the zombies chasing you. Or you'll just run. Too bad the game has a host of problems, starting with the unbelievably clunky control scheme.

  4. 1) As I stated earlier, this was just a small grouping (and it's not about which one is better, but that these titles are enjoyable.

    2) Both Katamari titles on that list were published in the EURO market by EA.

    3) The hell I can't claim Mercs2, lol

  5. It looks really good. Both my best friend James and I both agree that we're looking forward to this more than any other game right now.

  6. New trailer wows me, a lot more ingame and fast gameplay footage, this game looks absolutely incredible.

I am weary about the mumblings that the controls may be changed and heavily influenced by gears. RE4s system worked great, and could be refined, but i wouldnt want RE5 to just end up being another shooter.

If they keep the action pretty much the same, but make the controls more like gears... wait, how are the controls really all that different? All i can really think about is moving and shooting at the same time (though I have seen no evidence if this in the trailers unless I missed it), but that would be a super welcome influence the the RE series.

  8. RE needs more stealth and back to bullet conservation to some degree, or else its gears with new textures.

  9. If RE5 plays like RE4, the only reason it will feel like Gears is because you shoot from over the shoulder. The games don't feel remotely similar as far as how you play the game.

Nah, I like the direction that RE4 took. It was time for a change, and it worked. I wasn't for it when i first heard about ti, but once I played it, I loved it. Now I don't think you should have a shit ton of ammo and not have to worry about health items, but they made the move to action from a survival horror, and with the story as is now, there is no going back. Even if they make the controls more like gears, which again I don't see how much different they were to begin with, doesn't mean the action is all of a sudden going to become just like gears.

Also, whether it plays more like previous RE's or more like Gears, as long as the game ends up being fun to play, thats all I care about.
