If you consistently score a "B" on any Mercs stage you'll net around 1000 points. Those stages don't take longer than a few minutes at most, and you get rewarded by unlocking other characters IF you happen to score an A (for 1500pts) or S/SS. These points go directly towards your Bonus Features as well (in about an hour of playing mercs with a friend I racked up 36k in exchange points while having FUN and not having to GRIND).

I think I'll have to do it in co-op. The highest I could get my combo was 10, and it gave me nothing, and I never get more than 600 points. Is there a strategy or something I should be using? I haven't unlocked anything yet in Mercenaries.
Basically the trick to mercs is to not die. First thing you should do is run around and get the time clocks and kill chickens/grab some ammo. Then dig in somewhere and fight. It's not too hard to do, just have to practice a bit and learn the stages.
It's far far better to do co-op with a friend though. Chux and I had awesome times doing it.
One of your first goals should be to unlock all the stages ASAP, then get an A on the Volcano stage to get STARS Wesker. He's pretty pure rape. Second best (arguably best, but aiming is hard) is Tribal Sheva since she gets the bow and arrow which is incredibly powerful and has infinite ammo.

Learn the level, rack up time by killing totems and using melee attacks, and use the combo time shit to get good scores.
Also, there is no achievement for Mercenaries. It can go to hell.

Evilmog and I did this. It started out as just trying to get an unlimited ammo magnum, but things got out of hand. Bought all the weapons and maxed them all out! LOL ! Fucking achievement whores!
