Thread: Resident Evil 5 - Official

  1. Why would the GC version count and not the Game.Com one? We're talking ports here, and it should be counted. Just because one is more liked than the other doesn't negate the fact that it was released.

Because most people don't see Game.com games as legitimate video games anyway. They're nothing more than licensed merchandise. Just like a coffee mug or t-shirt with the game's logo. The fact that they aren't even produced directly by the original developers merely proves that.

Besides, I doubt the Game.com version was anything remotely close to the PS original.

They're games, albeit not very good ones.

It's as close as the hardware would allow, I'd say.

Again, I'm just listing the consoles the RE games were ported to. I'm not talking about which ones were better.

True, LCD games, but not genuine video games. And not produced by the original developers. Hardly even the same production values.

Let's look at this another way. When you think of portable Castlevania games, you're probably thinking of Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow or Circle of the Moon. Perhaps even Castlevania: Adventure or Belmont's Revenge. Do you ever think of the Simon's Quest LCD or the cancelled Symphony of the Night Game.com game? Of course not!

Or as close as a licensed tie-in with little or no input from the actual developers.

Quality has nothing to do with it. I just don't think the Game.com counts as an actual game console (portable or otherwise).

  6. It's not RE5-related, but I wasn't sure if this was enough info to bother making a new thread for. Anyway, Magic Box has some news on Resident Evil for the Wii:

.- Capcom revealed new details on its Wii action game Biohazard: Umbrella Chronicles:

Four chapters will be available, each chapter will have 2 playable characters
    Chapter 1 - BH1 Mansion - Jill and Chris
    Chapter 2 - BH2 RPD - Claire and Leon
Chapter 3 - BH3 Racoon City - Jill and Carlos
    Chapter 4 - BH4 Village - Leon and Ada
Additional characters can be unlocked by playing the game, such as Rebecca Chambers, Hunk and Albert Wesker
The gameplay will be similar to BH4, use the Wiimote to trigger the over-the-shoulder view, use the nunchuk to fire
All characters will have different weapons and melee attacks like in BH4, you can find additional weapons in the stage
Each character can only carry 2 weapons, such as Chris' pistol and shotgun, and Jill's pistol and grenade launcher
The main game Scenario Mode will have in-game cutscenes, each chapter will have new contents which link to Umbrella's status
There is an Arcade Mode which plays like the BH4 Mercenaries mini game
    RE's Greatest Hits?

    It is. This isnt RE5.

Saw this earlier too and while I feel a bit burned that it wont be a completely new story in the series, I think I'd still play a newly remade compilation with RE4 mechanics in a heartbeat.
