I hate how people think this glorifies terrorism. Hes fighting against a government as brutal as Hitler. But lets link this to our very own government. Its a fucking movie people.![]()
What makes me sad is there were only like 10 people total watching the movie with me. I bet Larry the Health Inspector gets a full house.

Jesus Christ. If anything, the movie is encouraging a true democracy. Shit it was pretty much 1984 but more plausible.

Actually this was the more the fault of the ads I saw for this. The first time I heard about V evereyone couldn't shut up about how close to our reality this movie is.Originally Posted by EvilMog
Which is why I was completely shocked when i saw it and realized this couldn't be farther from the truth if it tried. V's government would only resemble our government if you were one of those college kids with "Bush is Hitler" Armbadges. It reminded me of an old cold war propaganda movie which pretty much asked "What if the iron curtain fell over all of europe"
The only part of the movie that dissapointed me was the moments when the government was also blamed for personal stupidity and barbarism.
Anyway I hope this movie doesn't become the new fahrenheit 9/11. I really don't want to see my favorite movie of the year so far be turned into a flag for micheal moore and a bunch of extreme leftist's.
No way, I think the Democrats should play this movie at the DNC in 2008.
This was amazing in every way a movie should be. It does everything pefectly, an 11/10.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.
Moore (Alan that is) himself said that it's inspired by the Reagan / Thatcher era, and how close he thought it was to fascism, or how atleast how fascism could have returned in that climate. Nowadays most Republicans get all warm and fuzzy if you compare them to Reagan.
However, anyone on the left comparing themselves to V is getting too far ahead of themselves. Yes, to the government he's fighting V is a terrorist, but to the people (or atleast Evey) he is a freedom fighter. Therein lies the problem with such labels. But, the real heart of the matter is that V is, by his own admission, an anarchist of the purest breed. When faced with such a horrid government the concept of anarchy does seem preferable, but to consider it a valid alternative in the real world is preposterous.
They could make a parody of it like the Republicans did with Star Wars, where they painted themselves as (LOL) the Rebel Alliance and the Democrats as the Empire led by "Darth Pelosi"Originally Posted by OmniGear
EDIT: Alan Moore, by the way, describes himself as an anarchist.

Well it does glorify terrorism. It doesn't glorify the practice as it is employed by people like Osama Bin Laden, but certainly as a means to political ends, and a way to shape the future.Originally Posted by EvilMog
I think the ideology feuling the terrorism is diametrically opposed to that of religious extremists with fantasies of totalitarian theocracy. But the terrorism itself is regarded as justifiable in the movie for many of the same reasons those that view it as justifiable in the real world do so.

V for Vendetta is amazing. I really enjoyed myself watching it. A little Fight Night Round 3 along with this to top off the evening is a remarkable couple. Great scott.
