Ghost Dog is the greatest movie on earth.
It comes out friday(8/5). I've viewed all of Jarmusch's films, and though they range in quality, he has already proven he can make a good journey/road trip film with Stanger than Paradise.
For those unaware, the film is about Don (Murray) who gets an anonymous letter saying he has a 19 year old son. So Don visits his friendgirls from that era to try to find out who the son is.
I was already sold at Jarmusch and Murray, but Julie Delpy and Frances Conroy ensure that its the one movie this summer to give a shit about.
And did I mention Bill Murray is in it? You may remember him as the guy who said "Don't point that gun at him, he's an unpaid intern."
Ghost Dog is the greatest movie on earth.
"Chuy, you're going to have a magical life. Because no matter where you go, it's always going to be better than Tucson."
Murray's seen better days.
He saw the 70's, and I agree that those were better days than these, but the company he has been keeping the last 5 years is top class. Watch this movie and you'll see. Jarmusch can't fuck a movie like this up.Originally Posted by Glitch 2.0

Ebert gave this 4*. I was nervous that Murray might have to end his genius streak soon, but it looks like it won't be here. Too bad nothing with in 50 something odd miles is playing this.
This movie was... disappointing. The frist 20 minutes were some of the worst film I've ever seen, mainly due to the dreadful character of Winston, Murray's amateur-detective neighbor who seems like a terrible attempt at a quirky Wes Anderson-esque character.
The main chunk of the film is Murray's trip to meet his old girlfriends and these segments garner some quality laughs and give us a look at Murray's interesting backstory, but we never delve deep enough into anything, as we're given everything at face value and no specifics are ever explored. This does give the movie a certain charm in it's mystery, but by the end you're left feeling extremely empty and unfulfilled.
if i decided to do a movie about a late middle aged man in crisis do you think i could get Bill Murray to be in mine too?
I dunno man, but if you make it as genius as Rushmore than I will work for free for you. Murray has never seen better days than his recent films, except the comic genius that is Ghostbusters, a true classic and one of the funniest movies ever made. Yes I do believe that and I also have Ghostbusters underwear on right now, so yeah!

"50,000! You scored 50,000 points on Double Dragon?"
I didn't like this movie at all, it was dull, repetitive and ultimately pointless.
