Yes, without question there is a sort of "art" to playing this game....
First, it helps very much if you have experience in "Powersliding, the Ridge Racer Way"....
That first step weeds out alot of pontential players and is probably a big reason why you here a lot of "RR6 sux" and "I liked RR6 better when it was called Ridge Racer Revolution" and whatnot....
Those who "get" RR powersliding will find a game with much more precise and faceted gameplay....this is why, I think, Namco widened the courses to better exploit this newly developed precision.... it allows much more action, positioning and strategy during the straightaway and particularly the corners...the depth of gameplay is very deceptive in this game.....
There is so much precision in this new powerslide engine that in a long, increasing radius turn, I passed 2 cars in one single but controlled fluid motion....first one on the inside and the 2nd one on the outside
As yoda would say, much nuanced gameplay this is....
