Thread: Ridge Racer 6

    Wow is that backwards.

  2. Picked this up recently and wow is it a breath of fresh air. I like racing games but dislike sims, and the last two Burnout titles have been disappointing for me (I don't like takedowns), so the straightforward & basic nature of RR6 clicked with me immediately. Thank goodness I can now concentrate on racing rather than fussing over kudos, calibrating the chassis, or worrying about battling.

I admit this is my first long-term exposure to RR (take my hardcore license plz) so I don't have any of the "been there done that" syndrome that seemed to attract so much criticism.

I dig the little touches on the course (aircraft, sculptures, wildlife), as they remind me of Vanishing Point, but RR is a helluva lot more playable. I'm sure, too, that it gets progressively difficult as you go - damn there's a lot of racing here.

Anyways, great game etc etc etc.

  3. PGR3 is boring.

This is exactly why I think RR6 is the best racer on the 360.

    It is, imo.

Starts off stupid easy, gets pretty challenging later on. It has alot to do with what class of car you're driving; the go-karts you start off with are really simple to drive, but you have much less margin for error by the third class.

Heck, man, RR6 the best racer I've played since Burnout 2, which is my all-time favorite. RR6 has this slick feel that's instantly appealing and satisfying. During the first race, I couldn't keep my car straight and was sliding all over, but on the second lap of the second race, the drift mechanic clicked sweetly into place, and now it's second nature.

I'm looking forward to learning & perfecting techniques and so on - glad to hear it gets progressively tougher. I want to master this - can't say that about many recent games.

How the heck did such a finely tuned game bomb? Is the online sloppy or something? My guess is its basic nature turned people off....this was the best $12 I've spent in a while.

It bombed because people have shitty taste. There is no other rational explanation. I paid $60 for it and felt justified. It was the first 360 game I bought.

  9. It launched against PGR3 and NFS:MW. PGR3 is a much better game and while RR6 is better than NFS, going up against an EA game never ends well.

    That's the simple explanation, anyway.

Kudos fucking suck. RR6 > PGR3 all the way.
